Jack Deighton | 243 comments Lord Byron's Novel: The Evening Land by John Crowley.
This qualifies almost by accident. I wasn't reading this as part of the challenge but discovered early on some of it was set in Scotland.
Byron of course spent his childhood in Aberdeenshire.

Jack Deighton | 243 comments Another inadvertent Scottish read. I only picked this up as the author had died recently. A very small part of the book is set in Scotland but Pilcher lived there after her marriage.
The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher

John R Absolutely nothing to do with this thread Jack, but after today's game at Broadwood I'm looking forward to games against Dumbarton next season (and pre-Danny Lennon it was years since I looked forward to games against any team).

Jack Deighton | 243 comments My thoughts on The Great Chain of Unbeing by Andrew Crumey (which I reviewed last year for the Science Fiction magazine Interzone and so couldn't link to then) are now on my blog at https://jackdeighton.co.uk/2019/05/15...
I'm not counting it in this year's total.

Great review, Jack. I adored this one, it's so very beautifully written! I'm currently reading Buddha Da, which I’m fairly enjoying, but think Gone Are The Leaves is by far her better book. :)

Jack Deighton | 243 comments Transcription by Kate Atkinson.
I'm not sure I ought to count this one. Kate Atkinson does live in Scotland, I believe, but there is nothing Scottish about this book.
Anyway, my review is at https://jackdeighton.co.uk/2019/10/13...

message 31: by Jack (new)

Jack Deighton | 243 comments Conversely, Ali Smith, the author of Spring, lives in England but was born/brought up in Inverness in which part of this book is set. My review is at https://jackdeighton.co.uk/2019/10/28...

Well done for reaching your goal, Jack!

Transcription is high up on my to-read pile - your review confirmed that. Though the book itself is not very Scottish, it still counts in this group as the author has Scottish links. So definitely still count it!
