Me too. It looks really good!Just want to mention that if you live in NYS, you're eligible for a New York Public library card. You can apply online and they'll mail you the card which you can use for ALL of their digital products. It's legit and legal and wonderful. I've been using it or downloadable audio books.
Just ordered from the library. Hopefully I'll get to read this one. December was too busy and Ove is a downer (stopped reading).
I think that since a lot of people want to read Educated, we'll skip the poll for this month and read it in February!
Gisella wrote: "Thanks for that piece of information Gloria. That is wonderful!"Unfortunately, high demand items are still out of reach. There's a six month wait on the audio versions of Educated and Becoming. I need to figure out Plan B for getting Educated in time.
Yes, that’s the problem with choosing high-demand books while they are in the first throes of popularity.... My other book group finally had to put that criterion on book candidates. I just ordered Educated from Amazon, after hearing rave reviews from other women at a meeting I attended last night.... I decided it was worth having so I could pass it around the family! But again, I think we’d better consider availability before choosing future titles ;-)
Maybe we could wait until March and see if the hold queue has gone down. Does anyone have any other suggestions for what we should read next month?
If we want to put off Educated.... I have two fast-read offerings for Feb: Hillbilly Elegy is one from my To Read List. And from Goodreads “fast reads” list, I saw an old, much beloved title: Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time sounds great. I already put it on my TBR list. Another suggestion is Memoirs of an Imaginary friend by Matthew Dicks. I picked it up at the last EF book sale. Another shopper there recommend it.
Oh boy, Gisella, now I really can't choose. I just looked up Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend, am intrigued, and added it to my Want to Read list. No one else has weighed in here, so I recommend that you vote for either Curious or Memoirs - I'd be happy with either. ;-)
It looks like Libby has no copies of Imaginary Friend BUT Curious Incident has some copies and all available. Unless anyone else wants to chime in......Curious may just won February's read!🤓
I've put out a poll with Hillbilly Elegy and Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on it for this month that you all should have gotten invited to vote on. Right now, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is winning, and voting will close tomorrow! I don't think there are enough copies of Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend in the system for us to read it, but I will check it out regardless!
I read Curious Incident some time back. It was very good.Memiors looks a wee bit treacly to me... So I vote for Curious Incident.
I would. That book stuck with me for a long time. It gave me a little insight into how someone with autism experiences the world and was a powerful story. I actually listened to it and the narration was fabulous too.
Ordered Curious Incident. Still waiting on hold for Educated. Good call not picking Educated for Feb book.
