Just finished The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz. Thoroughly enjoyed this story and the characters. Fast, easy read - more brain candy!

I really enjoyed the Robert Galbraith series! I finished the 4 books and I'm hoping the rumors of more are true. Based on the way the forth book ends I'm optimistic.

Did you enjoy this one? I've heard good things about it! I got an ARC of it and never got around to reading it. Now it's not advanced...lol. I will be reading it this year though!

Hi Elyse, I did enjoy it. There is a lot going on in this one, I enjoyed the shifting from character to character. I am still puzzling over some aspects of the story that did not seem to be resolved by the end of the book. It's a good thing to ponder the story and its characters once finished.

I thought this was going to be a book on Genealogy and genetics , but it was totally on the science of genetics! Interesting and just a little bit over my head!
Honestly, I keep coming here to check on your progress but all I can think about is how much I love the title of your discussion board! It's high time I tell you. So, there you have it!

Connie wrote: "LOL - thank you. So far so good! A book a week is more than I've read since my teens! I am creating a buffer for those months I'll be too busy to read!"

I give this a 3 star rating. This is a book of essays on the faith/strength of 7 women. Joan of Arc, Corrie ten Boom, Rosa Parks and Mother Teresa, to name a four. Their faith, undoubtedly, was the secret of their strength and greatness. The writing was a little weak.

A favorite from my childhood."
I never liked this series. My teacher read the first book to us in 4th grade and I read the series in 6th grade. I'm going to try and read them in the near future, see if anything changes with a new perspective. I have not seen the new movie, it looked horrendous.

I have not read the other book in the series or seen the movie, but I did love the first one when I read it so very long ago.

I had a little trouble getting into this one and almost laid it aside. I am glad I kept reading; this is a good mystery story.

The Crane Wife - Patrick Ness
I picked this up at the library while looking for Patrick Ness's book The Knife of Never Letting Go. I am so glad I did. I was surprised and pleased by the story and the prose.

O is for Outlaw - Sue Grafton
Kinsey Millhone is one of my favorite detectives. Somehow I must have missed this one when it came out.
This series is helpful for the ABC Challenge and fun to read or re-read.

Aww Kinsey! Carol and I read the whole series between 2017 and 2018. It was a lot of fun. So sad that Grafton passed away before she could finish Z!

I personally really get annoyed when I decide to pick up a series and the first book is just meh, because why only read one book of a series? I feel like I wasted my time that could've spend on another book. Coincidentally, this totally explains my reluctance to pick up series :p

The Bookshop of Yesterdays - Amy Meyerson
I enjoyed this story; more so, if I had been familiar with all the literary references. It is not a whodunit mystery, but does involve solving a riddle/mystery; which makes it a good book for me.
