He rolled his eyes, "the old king commanded us to stay in and only go out if there are vampires out there being attacked."
He gets up quickly and falls back into line.
"Who attacked the queen?" Someone else asked curiously.
"Who attacked the queen?" Someone else asked curiously.
He shakes his head, "it's not that. It's just... We know our old king... Why would he hurt his daughter?"
Ceryan arrives back at the kingdom, fulfilled by his small absence. He was expecting to go awol with blood and alcohol, but he stayed clean of both during his stay. The guards would have lost respect for him, had he came back in a bad state, and he felt pretty good about himself. He gives his horse to a servant to put into the stable, and he stretches slightly after being stiff from the ride.
"Say, you're working hard today." Ceryan said to the servant that took hold of his horse. He took a 10 note form his pocket and gave it to the servant. "Get yourself a drink or something on me, buddy" Ceryan said, and the servant bowed silently and carried on with his duty. Ceryan walks slowly, being in no rush, with his left hand resting lightly on his sword. And his right hand scratching his head as he yawned slightly, slightly tired, but still awake from the ride.
Liam arrived at the front of the convoy, entering the courtyard and assembling the arrival of his scouts, handing over their horses to the vampires that were on hand to welcome themAldar came out in the ligthest studded leather armour he had. In this, there was no empty bulk. You could see his physique properly
A fair rushed to Mel's carriage with a robe, gloves, and an umbrella to protect her from the sun, which was well above the trees by now.
The fairy held the umbrella over the carriage doorway before handing over the gloves and robe.
Mel covered herself before stepping out. She took the umbrella and thanked the fairy before going to Aldar. "Sorry we took so long," she kissed his cheek. "My aunt insisted I rest before traveling again."

"It's all fine, darling. Make your way inside, the kids miss you" he tells her, returning a kiss. He turns to walk towards Liam, checking out the soldiers he brought with him. Like an entire legion
Mel watched the two men before heading inside.
Liam watched Mel go before focusing on Aldar. "Shall we head out?" He asked through gritted teeth.

"No. I was planning to hold a feast for your lads. Fill them up and rest them before we head out. I'm sure you'd prefer that" he said with a friendly smile
Liam pressed his lip together. He glanced at his men. Werewolves had more stamina then vampires, so they weren't very tired. But who knew what they'd find in the mountains. "Very well."
Aldar smiled and Urged Liam to store forwards, putting an arm around his shoulders as he walked him and his troops inside "you could never understand how important this is to me. It's our Mel that wanted this mission, you know"
He wanted to say that Mel was his first and that she'd always be his. "She seemed quite distressed about the issue."
"Indeed. She's the new vampire queen. It's her right to decide on things, if she feels passionate a both this, who am I to say no? Go in ahead into your quarters, my servant here will show you the way" he said, dropping his arms and indicating to a servant that was standing ready. "Thank you for agreeing to this, Liam"
Liam watched Aldar slowly. "Yeah... How could I refuse a call to action?" He let the fairy servant lead him to his chambers.
Aldar and Liam lead the convoy back into the palace, the gates opened by some surprised looking guards. They found the remnants of the elves. At least they confirmed they were real once. But no live elves were found. Aldar made notes on architecture, inscribings, that sort of thing, but overall the entire mission felt like a failure
A child ran in, informing the throne room filled with wives and sisters of the troupes. The women all rushed out to see their loved ones.
Mel sighed with relief and waited for Aldar to come to her.

All troops were accounted for. The convoy suffered no losses. They suffered nothing at all after Adora left. Aldar dismounted his horse once the convoy had arrived and made a b-line straight to the throne room
"Of course I am. I need to make the official statement, but the mission was a failure. We found nothing of the elves. Just ruins" he said, almost begrudgingly
She hugged him tighter, "at least we know now..." She whispered, hiding her disappointment. She was hoping there would be someone.
"They're growing up really fast," she pulled back enough to look him in the eye. "Our boy has been training to join your army," she said, hoping he'd be proud.
"I knew he was his father's son. He'd hate to know the soldier he looks up to failed on a mission" he muttered to himself. The last thing he needed was to let down his son
"Hey," she cupped his cheek, "don't beat yourself up about it. Now we know they're extinct. It wasn't a failure."
"Well, we do know that they did exist once. That's a success, I guess" Aldar said, smiling a little to humour her
"Where are they? I need to show Adora what sort of runes I found. If she's still into that kind of thing, of course"
Mel bit her lip, "I'm not sure... She hides in her room all the time now a days. I only see her at meal times, and even then she doesn't talk to me."
"I don't know. She's been acting like this since she came back from your mission," Mel looked away. "I tried talking to her, but she ignores me."
