Ireland - The Ruin

Fantastic police procedural set in Galway. Been lots of hype about this one, but it totally lives up to it. I'm seeing her in an author talk in a fortnight, will let you know what she's like.

I've had a terrible start to the year. We've had an unexpected death in the family, I started a new job, and then my boss disappeared for 6 weeks with an unexpected death in her family. So not much time has been had for reading, or reporting.

Spending some time tidying up now, so sorry for the spam.

Indonesia - A Bali Conspiracy Most Foul

I really want to like these books but the main character is hard to like, their are too many stereotypes, and the stories are a bit ho hum. I have one left set in Singapore, so it will tick another country off my list. But not buying anymore.

Pakistan - Fire Boy

Set in Karachi, Wahid is 17 and just discovering Djinn and many other elements of Pakistani folklore and mythology are not just stories...

Belize - Wanderlove

Bria goes travelling after her shitty boyfriend and friends bail on her. She gets adopted by some backpackers, particularly a dreamy one, and gallivants around Belize and Guatemala.

Sorry to hear Rusalka - hope your year is nothing but roses hereon out! Too bad about the Bali book - I was wondering how you were getting on with it. Would have been nice read a book set there and relive great vacation memories.

Cheers Lilisa :D

Yrinsyde | 209 comments Sad to hear your news Rusalka. Death is not only saddening but also disorienting. And to top it off with your new boss being absent for the same reason! A too hard start to the year. I hope it is a more calmer and joyous year henceforth!

Thanks Yrinsyde, missed you're comment earlier this year.

Year has gotten better, but reading has not. I have decided to roll with it, and not stress out about things, and read what I wish instead of having to hit targets.

However, a few books to report:
Azerbaijan - Ali and Nino
Uganda - All Our Names
Solomon Islands - One Blood

A couple more reads this year for this list.
Iceland - Silence of the Grave
Norway - The Devil's Star

Not sure I will get anything else read this year. But here's to drawing a line under 2019, and starting anew :D
