Welcome to a brand new year of reading together, Paper & Glam Readers!

We're kicking off 2019 with our annual new year inspirational tome. I picked this book because it's one of the few productivity books written for women by a women. It also addresses common narratives in our culture and in our minds that drive behaviors that may be holding us back.

I'll see you Thursday, January 31st @ 6 PM PST/9 PM EST to discuss January's selection.

Happy reading!

Jenny (jennyexiled) I enjoyed this book. I'm very curious to hear what others have to say about it!

Natalie | 3 comments Hi all! Just joined the book club this month. I’m so excited to have this. I’ve been wanting to join a book club for so long. Finished the book last night and look forward to the YouTube chat.

message 4: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1 comments I opposite spectrum feelings about it going from chapter to chapter. I was riveted at points, knowing the things that I was feeling she has and that those points needed to get changed immediately. And at the opposite side feeling like the book was an advertisement for her other ventures outside of writing the book or even a name drop piece of her fabulous friends. I wonder though how and if she would attack this book differently now that she has had a child? It is a huge life altering shift she had not experienced before.

Natalie | 3 comments The most compelling story/example for making these changes was the last chapter. I wish all of them could have been that way. The concepts are solid and ones I follow and teach, but not all well developed enough. However it’s left me thinking so that’s a good sign!

Jenny (jennyexiled) Was anyone familiar with her or any of her ventures before reading her book? I had never heard of any of the blogs, websites or LEAFtv that she mentioned. Are they really popular and I’m just that out of touch? (Definitely a possibility!)

Kate (drkt) | 8 comments I just finished this driving into work this morning and granted I listened to it straight through and did not so her exercises, but it just felt blah to me. She posits that she is providing a new way of looking at productivity but everything she offered is already preached by many self-help people. Her points are valid, but it didn’t feel new. It was a good reminder of what we should be doing, but at the same time some of the suggestions felt very out of reach for me: I don’t have the financial bandwidth to outsource aspects of my life that are not designated to my top 3 and my job doesn’t allow me to deprioritize things that don’t feed into them. At the end it was just meh for me. I think I gave it 2 1/2 stars. Interested to hear everyone else’s thoughts.
