I think it worked, although I was surprised that their previous time together was as short as it was, considering how intense her anger was and how obsessed he with her. I kind of looked at it like a four year fight and when she forgave him I figured they could pick up where they left off very easily.
I thought that she forgave a tad to quickly for all the anger she had been packing for four years. A little more evolution in their present situation would have been nice, it just felt way to fast for me. Overall, they worked as a couple.
Again, her emotions were hurt masked by anger. Once she allowed him in, without interference from her ex, she could see the man versus the agent. I didn’t think it was fast as, on some level, she wanted to believe him.
The author did a really good job of balancing the time devoted to their relationship and the other suspense aspects of the story. I bought the evolution of their romance.

I thought the time together was perfect. The one thing that did surprise me is that I thought they have been together much longer the first time around. But I think the author did a great job of balancing the romance with the suspense.
