Did anyone else just not get David Shaw's motive? Because i'm re-reading the trilogy for the second time and the only thing i can think of is that he blames his son for his wife's murder but yet also wants to protect Noah, so everything he did, he did for Noah in a weird twisted way? And with Mara being the Shadow archetype, he knows that only death and destruction follow and with Noah being so close to her, she could kill him because of them being each other's FOIL's.
It's not really explained clearly and even Mara says she doesn't care about why he did it, but like... I do as a reader and i want to know implicitly why, instead of just wanting to kill the bastard without any explanation?
Or maybe it has something to do with Grandma Mara? Because he was a real dick to her when she came to see him when his wife was giving birth, but i just wrote that off as he knows his wife is going to die to bring his son into the world and maybe he hates Noah for his part in her murder?
There's just too many loose ends that aren't explained and i really want to know this specific answer to this specific question because it's been bugging me since the first time it was revealed.
