The group will be reading After You in February in preparation for our group read of Still Me in March. After You is the second book in the Me Before You trilogy. Please read and discuss here and use spoiler tags as needed.

After You (Me Before You, #2) by Jojo Moyes

How do you move on after losing the person you loved? How do you build a life worth living?

Louisa Clark is no longer just an ordinary girl living an ordinary life. After the transformative six months spent with Will Traynor, she is struggling without him. When an extraordinary accident forces Lou to return home to her family, she can’t help but feel she’s right back where she started.

Her body heals, but Lou herself knows that she needs to be kick-started back to life. Which is how she ends up in a church basement with the members of the Moving On support group, who share insights, laughter, frustrations, and terrible cookies. They will also lead her to the strong, capable Sam Fielding—the paramedic, whose business is life and death, and the one man who might be able to understand her. Then a figure from Will’s past appears and hijacks all her plans, propelling her into a very different future. . . .

For Lou Clark, life after Will Traynor means learning to fall in love again, with all the risks that brings. But here Jojo Moyes gives us two families, as real as our own, whose joys and sorrows will touch you deeply, and where both changes and surprises await.

Oh, I hope you love it, Susanne. I loved the first one. The next two are also both good, but you have to go into them not expecting to get the same story as the first. I think a lot of people really wanted the second book, then were disappointed because their expectations were too high. In my opinion, it is still a really good book and worth the read.

Colleen | 139 comments I agree - although I felt the first two books were similar (except less drama in the second naturally). I'll be reading the third book with you all! Can't wait to see how Lou develops even more.

I really need to read another of this author's books. I own a copy or two of her titles, so should start with one of them.

Vicki Willis | 1039 comments I wasn't planning on reading this one either! But I got it from the library so I am going to go for it. No expectations though. :)
I did love the first one. I will not get to this one until next week at the soonest.

I think the third was really good too, Colleen. I hope you enjoy it. I picked up a couple of her other books after reading Me Before You, but haven't read them yet. I did read One Plus One, which came out after Me Before You, and I liked it a lot.

Camille I also never planned or reading the second book because I didn't want to see Louisa with anyone other than Will but, so far I like it!Me Before You was an amazing book (very heart wrenching to say in the least)so I have high expectations for this book!

Vicki Willis | 1039 comments It took me a bit to finish it, but I did and I thought it was great.
I especially liked (view spoiler)

I am looking forward to the 3rd one more so than I was looking forward to this one.

I agree. She did show the shadow death throws, especially a death that is planned, the way Will's was.

I felt the fall was a bit staged, but in reading the author interview, I guess that's the image she started with.

(view spoiler)

Overall I enjoyed the book. I wasn't sure how well it would work after the first book, but it worked.

Going to start the third book now.
