I have about 100 pages left in The Golem and the Jinni. It's a good story; how good, however, will depend on the ending. After G&J I plan to read Dead to the World - Book #4 in the Southern Vampire / Sookie Stackhouse series.
The short stories start after DttW, so I'll probably begin reading The Complete Sookie Stackhouse Stories this month as well.
I've started an ARC for The Perfect Assassin, coming out in March. Decent so far, but haven't really gotten hooked as of yet.On audio, I'm working my way through a reread of Red Sister, with the third and final book of the trilogy coming up in April.
I read So You Want to Talk About Race yesterday, which was fantastic, and I'll be reading Welcome to Your Authentic Indian Experience today, for SFFBC, since it's a short story and super quick, and then I'll be making a dent in The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy: The Shocking Inside Story, and then starting The Golem and the Jinni for our BOTM.
I've not picked up G&J yet - I left my tablet at work over the weekend!!!!!!!!The horror! The horror!!

I read The Bear and the Nightingale in January and loved it. A little slow to start, but definitely became immersed in the world.
I'm actually on the second one now- The Girl in the Tower. Enjoying this one just as much although I want to throttle Vasya at times. She doesn't seem to know when to shut up.

The biggest issue with the ILL system really...
Totally get that and it's one of the reasons I don't frequently use the ILL system at the library unless it's a scheduled buddy read or I feel I can get it within a week or two.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude. I would be taking my ass back to the office to get it... Do you not have the kindle app on your phone or anything? I would die. Possibly literally.
MrsJoseph wrote: "RIGHT??!!!!!! ALL Weekend"The thought just hurts my heart. Even with stacks of books at home, I think I'd cry.

I did give some serious thought to coming back to get it but it snowed all day Friday. THen I had a bunch of errands on Sat. THen Sunday it was the game (we had cleaning, etc).
A total shitshow of a weekend. Barely read anything.

I had a mini panic attack when I realized it.
Finished Bear and the Nightingale. Slow start, but the ending was almost everything I could have hoped for. Looking forward to continuing the series.Unfortunately I don't have another book for the train ride home, though I might dip into The Sorcerer of the Wildeeps.

Yay! Glad you liked it.
I recently read The Girl in the Tower and enjoyed it just as much. The pace seems to pick up in the second one.
I"m almost finished with my reread of Red Sister, this time on audio. Colleen, I've been giving serious thought to recommending this to you. There have been a few times where I thought you might like it.

Sounds interesting - but is it less Grimdark that Prince of Thorns?
I need to start on the BotM - and my cousin is telling me I need to read My Sister, the Serial Killer
colleen the convivial curmudgeon wrote: "Sounds interesting - but is it less Grimdark that Prince of Thorns? ..."Oh, definitely. It's very character driven and though it has some darkness to it, not any more than most fantasy.
I'm still chugging away at The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy: The Shocking Inside Story... I have 3 days to finish it before the loan expires, so I better get on it. Sigh.

'k. I'll put it on my list. Thanks. :>
I will say, for TB&tN, I had to keep reminding myself about the time period and stuff, because I was a bit squicked by the whole (view spoiler)

Btw, if you want to continue discussing the series I'm game. We can even read the 3rd one together. I have it on order at the library.

And, yeah, the whole culture was weird. Like, not only where they ok with it, (view spoiler)

^ I read all the things (Yay!) and will be starting Dead as a Doornail later today.
Reading The Sorcerer of the Wildeeps - on chapter Four of Seven.I'm kind of meh about it, tbh, but quick question for anyone who's read it.
In one of the first two chapters they were heading to a town and then it jumped to them being attacked on the road and then they were back at the town.
Is it written this way and I just missed something - or do I have a bad copy?
