So, here I should write which books we could read??
I think Broom's Sentience and Animal Welfare, Gorsuch The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia (this is not especificaly on sentientism, but I think the discussion on what's a dignified death must happen in this group), Joy's Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows: An Introduction to Carnism: The Belief System That Enables Us to Eat Some Animals and Not Others, MacIntyre's Dependent Rational Animals: Why Human Beings Need the Virtues... Yeah, those come to mind.
So ideas to share about how to spread sentientism... IDK... Maybe a FB group will help?? I think FB and Twitter might be the most used social networks.
Anyways...

Thank you, Malola for the book ideas! Feel free to add titles to the groups shelf.
Yes, the idea for the reading partnership is to read any book on topic that you would like to read along with another, or others. So if you'd like to partner with someone on any of your titles mentioned above, just make a new post, and announce that you are interested in partnering up for reading and discussion, adding the title, author, etc.
There is a Sentientism facebook group moderated by JamieWoodhouse
I will make a separate post that includes all the Sentientism communities that Jamie has shared, as well.

Wildlife in the Balance, by Simon Mustoe
I've just started reading it. the e-book is not expensive. I downloaded it to my phone from Amazon. Have read the first page or two and like the style and interesting angles he's approaching it from. I also really like that his initial inspiration came from the ocean.
Books mentioned in this topic
Wildlife in the Balance: Why animals are humanity's best hope (other topics)Sentience and Animal Welfare (other topics)
The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia (other topics)
Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows: An Introduction to Carnism (other topics)
Dependent Rational Animals: Why Human Beings Need the Virtues (other topics)
Here's the general idea:
- If you want to read and discuss a book, you put a call out in a post to start a "read along."
- In the post you would introduce the title, author and invite any other person or persons to join you. (You could even say a little something more about the book, or your choice).
- If there is at least one other person to read along, you agree on a time frame and carry on a discussion thread.
- It could be any number of people in the reading partnership, and the book 1) doesn't have to be from our current bookshelves, nor 2) from any of our polls.
So, if you are interested in a specific book or are currently reading a topic related to Sentientism, and you would want to read and discuss with others in the group, this could be a good alternative to the Book of the Month. Just start by posting in this new folder "Reading Partnership."
I'd love to get your feedback, and any other suggestions!
You are always welcome to add more books to our collection shelves if you think the titles should be added, and feel free to introduce all the Sentientism readings and discoveries you encounter :)
