A small otter left ripples in the even surface of the lake as it scurried onto shore. It shook the water off it self and smiled when it was dry, "All better." Rixon said to himself as his small paws pattered against the warm sand. He yawned, his long fore-fangs showing themselves to the sky. He slowly stretched out on the sand with a groan of relief, "Oh... That feels good..." He whispered as he looked over at the, now calm, water. He looked out to the small island he had just come and shook his head, "Weird little island..." He mumbled, "Just in the middle there." He laughed to himself as sand covered his stomach fur.
A black horse cantered around the lake. She shook her head, her mane whipping through the air. It had been awhile since she had been able to run like this. Autumn shook her head again, letting out a loud whinny as she speed into a gallop. She looked towards the center of the lake, noticing an island. She barely hesitated before charging into the lake, her powerful legs pushing her through the water.
Rixon looked up at the loud splashing sound and noticed a horse, "What the..." He mumbled as he slowly stood up. He frowned at the horse and slowly started walking to where it had left the shore. He stood on the sandy area and stared at the horse. He pawed his face to relieve a scratch from his nose and smiled at the feeling. He out his paw down and stared out at the horse charging through the blue water again. He watched as it tried to get to the island,a useless attempt because of the sudden drop off next to the island. The water would soon be too deep for the large, black horse.
Suddenly, the floor dropped from under her hooves. Autumn gave a small trumpet of surprise. She had not excepted the lake bed to drop away. In her moment of confusion, she lost hold of her horse shape and became a girl once again. Muttering under her breath, she swan back towards the shore. Her clothes were sopping wet. She gave and exasperated sigh and threw herself onto the sand at the edge of the lake, not noticing the otter watching her.
When Rixon realized that the horse was actually a girl he quickly began to scurry away, not wanting to be anywhere near another person. He laid down a twenty feet away and looked at her with a content stare, waiting for her to make a move. As he laud there his fur slowly began to cake up with more and more sand. He slowly rolled around and got sand on his sides. As the sand began to build up under his fur he slowly stood up and washed himself in the water, taking his eyes off of the girl and turning his back.
Autumn reached behind her and started squeezing the water from her hair. Her light brown hair lay in long wet ropes down her back. When she heard a splash she looked towards it. Twenty feet away there was a small animal splashing in the lake. Curious she walked over. Seeing that it was an otter the grinned. "Aww you are so cute!" she squealed and walked slowly over to it, not wanting to scare the small creature.
He didn't hear her, as his head was underwater. He ran his hands over his ear and when he lifted his head his ears wiggled slightly, getting excess water out of them. He gave out a soft, high pitched sneeze and then rubbed his small snout. He looked down, noticing a singular clam sitting in the water underneath him. He picked it up slowly and held it in front of himself with stubby, fuzzy arms. He bit it slightly to see if it was weak enough to break with his teeth. He didnt bite through it and instead dropped it back into the water as he shook his small ears again.
A giggle escaped Autumn at the otters sneeze. She was now only a few feet away from the small creature. She sat down and watched it searching under the water. She giggled again when its ears wiggled around. "What an adorable otter!" she said, recognizing it from a book her parents had gotten her of the different kinds of animals.
He ran his hands over his ears again with another sneeze. He turned his head and his small beady eyes widened. He was paralyzed in fear as he stared at her. He was shivering in fear as he looked at her. He sneezed again and fell backwards into the water. He slowly began to back up away from her. Being relatively slow in his otter form on land he wouldnt be able to out run her if he tried to escape.
Realizing she had frightened the small creature, Autumn scooted back. "It's ok little one. I'm not going to hurt you." she told it in a soothing voice. She continued to talk soothingly to it as she backed up some more. Slowly, she laid down on her stomach so that she was not so much higher than he was anymore. "Please don't be afraid of me" she encouraged it.
"Sorry... Im... Im just a bit shy..." He whispered as he looked down at the water and scooted a bit further away. He moved a bit farther away as he looked at her. He rubbed his ears one more time as he dunked his head under water with a cough. He slowly began to scoot closer to her.
"Wait did you just talk?" she asked confused. She shook her head. "No animals can't talk" she told herself. "Unless...." As he moved towards her she watched him carefully. "Are...are you a shifter?" she asked curiously.
"Yes, i am a shifter." He confirmed, "But i often stay as an otter." He explained as he rubbed his ears again, trying to scratch the top of his head. He put his small paws on top of his head and scratched back and forth. He sat in the shallow water and looked up at her with his small face, "What are you?" He asked as he began to warm up to her.
"I'm a shifter" she told her. "Is your head itchy? Would you like me to scratch it for you?" She asked politely. Since he was already wary of her she did not want to make him leave by making any sudden movements. She wanted to make this otter her friend.
"Thats cool." He said with a smile, "Um... Please, please scratch my head..." He said with a small laugh as he pulled his paws from atop his head. He walked up to her so he was directly in front of her face and gave her a small smile. He turned his fave and gave another sneeze into the water.
Autumn smiled brightly at him. Raising her self up slightly so she could brace herself with one arm, she used the other to scratch his head. "My name is Autumn" she told him. When he sneezed again she frowned. "Do you have a cold?" she asked slightly concerned for him.
"No, i usually sneeze three times until i stop." He said with a laugh. He closed his eyes and opened his mouth slightly as she scratched his head, "Ohhh..." He whispered, "That feels so good..." He leaned his head into her hand with a smile. "My... My name is Rixon." He whispered as she scratched his head, "That feels amazing." He said with a small, cute smile.
"Okay" she said. He smiled as he leaned into her hand. She scratched his head some more before going around his head to his chin. She giggled the at feel of his fur against her hand. "Do you go to Hidden Academy?" She asked.
He lifted one paw slightly out of the water as she scratched his chin, "Oh... That... Oh...." He whispered, "Y-yeah, i go to Hidden." He mumbled. He pressed his furry chin into hand, "Woah... So... So good..." He whispered. He rolled over on his back and patted his stomach with his small paws, "Can... Can you?" He asked quietly.
Autumn laughed outright as Rixon asked her to scratch his belly. "Oh course I can." She grinned down at him and scratched his stomach. She was enjoying her time with him. "What grade are you in?" she asked as she moved her hand across his stomach, making the fur on it stand the wrong way.
"Im special, i am trained by the headmaster." He whispered as he moved his short legs in the air as she scratched his stomach, "That... That feels so good..." He whispered as he stretched with a yawn. "You are really good at this..." He mumbled as he grabbed her hand with his paws.
Autumn smiled at him. "We have all sorts of animals on my parents farm. No otters though but plenty of horses and dogs and sheep and goats and rabbits. It seems like all different kinds of animals like having their bellies rubbed" she told him frankly. "The headmaster trains you? You must be very special. I've been coming here for five years now."
"Thats cool. I've never been to a farm..." He whispered as he held onto her hand with his small, padded paws. "Yeah, i have been here since i was twelve." He laughed, "you're so nice" he whispered as he scooted closer to her and held her hand. He laughed, "So, you lived on a farm. That seems pretty cool."
"Yeah until a wolf got in with the sheep. That's how we found out what I am." She giggled as the small claws on her hand prickled on her wrist. She continued to absently scratch his belly with her fingers. "What other forms can you take?" she asked him curiously.
"Nothing as cute as an otter." He giggled as he looked up at her, "Well, i can turn into a snake, a puma, a little black cat and a rave." He explained as he looked up at her, "How about you?" He asked as he let go of her hand and turned over so he was laying on his stomach. He brushed his paws over his ears again and rubbed his eyes. "Ugh, i always get tired after i swim..." He mumbled.
"I can be a black horse, a lioness, a wolf and a prairie falcon." Autumn switched to petting his back as Rixon rolled over. "If you want, I can carry you back to the school." She realized she was being presumptuous "That is only if you want to be carried."
He laughed slightly, "You don't have to carry me if you don't want to. I mean, i can always turn back into a human and walk." He laughed as he sat on his hind legs. "Or i could turn into a raven and fly to my dorm." He said as he held his stubby arms next to his chest with a smile.
"We could walk back together" she told him. She tried very hard not to giggle as it looked like he was trying to cross his arms over his chest. It was a very funny image because his arms were so small. "What ever it is you want to do is fine with me she said rolling over to look at him upside down.
"Okay." He said with a bright smile as he slowly began to transform. He quickly transformed back, "Not a good idea!" He said, "I find it uncomfortable to shift while i have clothes on so im always naked when i go out in shifted form so... i guess i can just crawl next to you." He said with a loud laugh as he stared up at her.
Autumn turned around again. She started to sit up. As she did, she scooped up the otter. "Why crawl when you can be carried?" she asked him. "Sometimes when I'm a falcon I ride on people's shoulders just because i don't feel like flying."
His eyes widened, "I'm... A bit scared of heights..." He whispered as he looked down at the ground. He nestled up under her chest and closed his eyes, "Really scared." He said into her chest. He stayed still in her arms as she held him, "extremely scared." he emphasized the point again.
Autumn frowned at him. She wasn't that tall for her age and hadn't even stood up yet. "But, you can be a raven. How does that work?" she asked him. She cuddled him then asked, "Would you like me to put you back down?"
"I dont usually become a raven because im scared of being super high up." He explained, "Even a little high up..." He whispered. "Please just let me turn into a puma or a cat then i can walk next to you." He explained as he struggled to get out of her arms.
"Ok" she said as she set him back down on the ground. Wanting to still keep him company, she shifted to her lioness form. She stretched her front paws out, her claws unsheathing. She grinned at his as much as she could.
He shifted into a small, black cat with yellow eyes. He stared up at her with a cat-like grin, "This is a fun form too." He laughed as he rubbed past her front legs. "So, shall we go to my dorm or something?" He asked, "I'm getting really tired from swimming so much." He explained.
"We could go to the Study Hall. It's quite there and there couches." She told him. She licked his head before she started trotting slowly off towards the school. She flicked her tail behind her as she moved, letting it brush against the grass.
He smiled and walked in between her legs, "Okay we can go there." He nodded and flicked his small ears around. He rubbed against her legs as they walked, "That'd be good." He laughed.
((Move to the study hall now?))
