Hidden Academy discussion

Eva quietly sat in one of the tall trees that over looked the small creek running through the forest. She leaned her back against the rough trunk and closed her eyes as she listened to the shallow sounds of the water slipping past small stones under the surface of the creek. She made a small, cool breeze run past her with a flick of her finger and smiled with a quiet sigh. Leaves rustled below her as the wind passed her by and she opened her eyes to stare at the orange, yellow and red leaves that littered the moist ground. She plucked a leaf off of the tree and dropped it, watching it slowly float to the ground below.

Katerina slowly swivling between trees occasionaly looking down at her black converse now caked in mud and colorful leaves. Enjoying the smell of newly wet grass and mud mixed looking up to notice a girl silently sitting beside a tree trunk. Katerina turns to go and greet her

Nicholas walked through the quiet forest with his pale hands shoved into his pockets. He sighed in slight relief. It was utterly silent here. Silence wasn't something that came to him often. Around the school and on campus, everything was loud and people were annoying. Not that anyone really bothered him, though. Still he was glad that he had found someplace that was peaceful and, for once, quiet. The thick row of trees on either side of him formed an easy path he could walk on.

The tree's leaves cascaded down above him, forming a canopy above him, blocking out the warmth of the sun. A breeze that seemed to come out of nowhere suddenly swept through the forest. A shiver ran throughout Nicholas's body, making him pull his jacket tighter around himself. That was the downside to being him. Even on a warm day like this, it might as well have been winter to him. But he would still trade this peace and quiet over comfort any day.

Nicholas kept walking on, deeper into the forest. His shoes crunched against the dry leaves as another breeze blew softly through his hair. Nicholas knew that he probably could have just went to his dorm if he wanted silence. But, this was the first time he had ever gone off campus. He'd only been going to Hidden Academy for- what was it? Three weeks now? Nicholas lowered his eyes to the ground as he walked. Only three weeks since getting off of the streets. It felt like it had been longer. Nicholas leaned against a nearby tree, deep in thought. He didn't notice the girl sitting on the branch of a tall tree just a few yards away.

Eva giggled to herself as she hung upside down from the branch she was on. Her shirt went passed her face, revealing her bra to the -- what she thought -- was an empty forest. She let her arms dangle down as leaves fell down past her face. She smiled down at the small creek.

She looked up and noticed a boy, he face went pink and she quickly shot her hands upwards to cover herself with her shirt. She flipped off of the branch and caught herself with a cushion of air. She waved to the boy with a bright smile on her face.

"Hello! I didn't know that others came to the forest as well!" She said as she began running over to him, jumping the small, fast moving creek.

Before I reach the girl I stop to zip up my thin jacket. When I was throw out I had my black converse my favorite pair of jeans a hot pink tank top and this gray sweater on. I'm in the woods often. I enjoy being by myself but occasionaly there are people here. The girl who I thought was sitting at the trunk is in a tree. When I start to walk again I think that maybe she wants to be alone so i quikly turn away and go back to my original route . Only to suddenly stop slid down a tree and start sobbing.

Nicholas was brought out of his thoughts when he heard a giggle come from nearby. Brushing his dark brown hair out of his eyes, he looked up. Nicholas suddenly wished he hadn't, as he was getting a full view of some girl's bra. He really hoped the girl was flashing him by accident. At last, the girl seemed to notice him. Nicholas raised an eyebrow in amusement when he saw the girl's face go red with embarrassment. At least she hadn't done it on purpose. That was a good sign.

Nicholas didn't really feel like questioning the other girl when she flipped off of the branch she had been sitting on and seemed to float down to the ground, landing perfectly. He was still getting used to the 'everyone has powers' thing. Hell, he was getting used to his own powers himself. Then he saw the girl wave at him. Nicholas's fingers twitched slightly, as he fought back the urge to flinch when the girl came running over to him.

Usually, Nicholas didn't bother to respond when people had tried to talk with him in the hallways(even if that amount of people were very few). To put it simply; he didn't like people. He knew it was kind of stupid. He didn't even know when this certain dislike started. It just happened. Of course, that was probably the reason why he never made friends in his life. As the girl crossed of the small creek, he heard a familiar sound. It was faint, and it sounded as if someone were crying. Whoever it was, he didn't really care, to be honest. He would see what this girl wanted, then he would leave. The whole point of going outside of campus was for a human-free rest of the day.

"Hi!" She said happily as she landed in front of his, creating a small wind that blew leaves from under her. Her small, black shoes stepped lightly on the moist ground as she wrapped his fingers together in front of herself. She gave the boy a large smile, "My name is Eva, whats yours?" She asked excitedly as she hung her hand out for a shake.

She rocked back and forth on her toes with a large smile and a tilted head. Her long green hair covered one eye as she looked the boy up and down. He seemed to have an air of loneliness and solitude to him, Weird, seems nice enough though! She thought to herself. She tilted her head to the other side and looked him up again with a smile, "You're cute." She said with a small giggle.

Katerina looked up and soon regretted even cooming. She stood up wiping her eyes she felt the urge to swim only to notice two people talking across the small river. With her powers put the thought in their heads to walk over to her. Since her powers don't work unless she chews gum so she pops a piece in her mouth and chews she is just getting used to this if you chew wrong things go bad so she comcentrates on using her powers corectly.

Nicholas stared at the girl for what seemed, to him, like hours. Was this girl for real? He could assume that the girl was the one making all of the seemingly random breezes appear on what was supposed to be a windless day. Nicholas fought back the urge to ask, "Why the hell are you so happy?". But he shut his mouth, staying silent. He knew that whenever he spoke, things never came out right. He always somehow ended up hurting other peoples' feelings. Sure, he would admit it. He was kind of insensitive.

This girl-Eva, she said her name was- was kind of annoying. Then again, he found that almost everyone annoyed him. Thinking it over, a small part of him said that he should give this girl, Eva, a chance. Maybe make a freaking friend for once in his life. There was one problem with that. No one really liked him. Maybe it was his cold personality. Maybe it was because he pushed people away. Whatever the case, he decided to ignore the other half of him that told him to just walk away.

"Nicholas." He murmured his name quietly, rolling his eyes slightly at Eva's most recent comment. Then suddenly, there was a new thought in his head. Walk over to the girl behind the trees. Wait, what? Why would he do that? Nicholas didn't even realize that said girl was behind the trees in the first place. Was it the girl that he heard crying from before? Narrowing his eyes, it dawned on him that the random thought must have been apart of this girl's power. Nicholas held back the compulsion to walk back to the trees and to the girl. If she wanted to talk to them or something she would have to come out herself.

She giggled when he told her name, "Can I call you Nick? That sounds more cute." She looked at him with another bright smile, "Yeah, im gonna call you nick!" She exclaimed as she bounced on her toes. Why was he being so quiet? Maybe he doesnt talk much or something.

Go to the girl behind the trees... "What?" she asked as she looked over at the trees, "Did you hear that as well?" She asked as she went behind Nick, "That was creepy..." She whispered as she placed her small hands on one of his shoulders and peeked around him at the trees.

I couldn't help it I kept thinking please walk over to please but no one came then finally I popped another piece of gum in my mouth and started chewing again my mind was like a rollercoaster I never felt like this before I just kept thinking walk over please then I collapsed still chewing and thinking walk over.

"Don't call me Nick." He muttered in annoyance. He didn't really like the sound of it. Maybe he would let close friends call him that, if he had any. But not now. Maybe...someday. Then he saw the girl look past him and into the trees. So Eva had heard it too? Great. When Eva put her hands on his shoulder, he couldn't help but flinch away. He didn't like being touched. "Don't touch me." Nicholas snapped at Eva.

Thoughts that weren't his began to fill his head again. They came faster this time, and the words seemed to overlap each other. He curled his pale hand into a fist, feeling a headache begin to form. Okay. Sure, he would walk over, but only to kick her in the face! So much for peace and quiet. Nicholas could barely hear his own thoughts over the ones the girl was putting into his mind. Nicholas brought one hand up to the side of his head, rubbing his temple in an attempt to get rid of the pain.

Making a decision, Nicholas spun around and walked over to the where the girl was, not looking back at Eva to see what she was doing. Disappearing behind the trees, he found a girl collapsed on the ground. Nicholas felt himself seriously consider the whole 'kicking in the face' thing. Nicholas closed his eyes, forcing himself to calm down. The last time he had lost control of his power, it didn't end well.

"Sorry..." She whispered as she removed her hands from his shoulder, "Please dont get mad at me..." She whispered as she stared at the ground. Leaves fell down past her face and onto the ground.

When Eva finally looked up she saw Nicholas walking over to the trees, "I'm... I'm just gonna stay over here!" She called after him as she stood in silence beneath the rustling branches of the trees. She yawned into her hand and rubbed her eyes slightly.

when I opened my eyes im suddenly aware that the gumhad fallen out of my mouth and there was a boy standing not so far away suddenly realizing I had done it I had called someone and they werent screaming in pain or suddenly thimg they were insane with the feeling of joy spreading through my body I jumped up and threw my arms around him.

Nicholas vaguely wondered if the girl on the ground in front of him was still alive. When he had reopened his eyes, he saw that the girl was still lying on the ground and unmoving. Getting a better look at the girl, he could see that she had long purple hair and tan skin. Now he had something he could identify her by if he ever saw her on campus. Now he could run away if he saw her. The girl still wasn't moving. Considering the pros and cons of poking her with a stick, he was kind of relieved to see the girl's eyes flutter open. He did not need to be charged with suspected murder, or something like that.

Nicholas was a little more than startled when the girl suddenly jumped up with a wide smile on her face and threw her arms around him. Nicholas tensed under her touch, his eyes darkening. He immediately pushed the girl away from him without thought. When he finally got the girl to let go of him, a took a few steps back. What was everyone's problem today? Did people just randomly hug each other during the day? Nicholas was pretty sure that they didn't. So why was the girl hugging him in the first place?

Goddammit, why can't everyone just leave me alone?! Nicholas thought angrily to himself. But then he remembered. He had forced himself to stay with that other girl named Eva. Nicholas had somehow convinced himself to make some sort of conversation with her. He had technically asked for this. He could have just walked away from Eva, and none of this would be happening right now. This is what I get for trying to socialize. He thought, sighing silently. Then again, his version of 'socialize' wasn't the norm.

Eva slowly walked up behind him, "a-are you still made at me?" She asked quietly, hoping he wasn't, "Is there some way i can help you to forgive me for touching you?" She whispered as she looked at the ground.

He looked at the girl and gave her a smile, "hi!" she said happily as she loked at her purple hair, "Ohhh... pretty." She whispered as she touched her hair.

as I backed away from the boy a girl walks in behind him saying something then she looks at me she looks familier but as her hand extends I see my mother's hand shoving me out the door I force myself not to react as her hand touches my hair shes admiring it I say "hi" and turn back to the boy and say "sorry its just the first time i have called someone and they didnt start screaming in pain." I smile " I'm Katerina if you havent noticed in a Siren."

"No shit, Sherlock." Nicholas muttered sarcastically under his breath. A Siren, huh? That explains the voices that she put into his head. He remembered having a class about Sirens. Didn't they sing, or something? He didn't know, and probably never would. He was having trouble paying attention in class lately, so he barely ever knew what was even going on. And what did this girl, Katerina, mean by 'screaming in pain'? So, did that mean that she knew it could cause them both pain, and yet she still did it?

Then he registered Eva's question. Why would he be mad at her? Oh. Nicholas remembered snapping at her for touching him. So, maybe it came out a little harsher than he meant to. Nicholas ran a hand through his hair and sighed for the third time that day. He tugged down at the edges of his thin black jacket, picking off a loose thread at the end.

Nicholas made a small mental not to come out to the forest again if he were to ever go off campus. Judging by the two girls he had met so far, this was the place that the crazy people all met up in. Looking towards Eva out of the corner of his eye, he saw that she looked somewhat distracted. She then went forward and touched Katerina's dark purple hair, like a moth drawn to a flame. Geez. This girl seemed to get as easily distracted as six year old.

"umm... sorry I was trying out my powers and they got out of hand. Sorry." God she wished he would do something she was longing for it but out of habit popped a piece of gum in her mouth and chewed thinking something not even she would have expected but... I wish he would kiss me. then at that moment she realized she was chewing gum and thinking of something to happen but didnt stop she kept chewing and thinking chewing and thinking.

"Your hair is really pretty." She said with a small giggle as she ran her hands through it, "We're kinda alike because your hair is purple and mine is teal!" She said as she held both of their hair up in order to compare them.

She skipped back to Nicholas' side and smiled, "So, Nick...olas, Whats your power?" She asked in an intrusive tone as she looked up at him, "Is it erebokinesis? That would be really cool!" She started listing off different types of elemental affinities, expecting him to be a manipulator.

As the girl listed off a startling amount of powers, Nicholas realized that he didn't even know what half of them were. But anyway, Nicholas didn't like talking about his power. He's hurt people with it. He may not always like the people he meets, but that doesn't mean he wants to hurt them. He was still having trouble controlling his power, even though the teacher who brought him here said he would learn to control it in a very short amount of time.

That was one of the reasons he decided to stay here; to control his power. And because he had no where else to go. But nonetheless, "Pyrokinesis." He answered quietly. He wasn't really sure if Eva heard him, because she was still going down a list of powers that common manipulators had. Was she even paying attention. Nicholas rolled his eyes. At least he knew what his own power was called. If didn't know that, then he might as well have been hopeless.

Her eyes widened in excitement when he said those words, "That so cool!" She said happily, "We could be best friends because i can control wind so i can make your flames even larger by supplying them with more oxygen!" She explained. She bounced up and down on her toes and touched his shoulder. "Oops! Sorry!" She said as she shot her hand off of his shoulder, "I... I didn't mean to..." She whispered as she looked at the ground.

She held her hands together behind her back and looked at the red and gold leaves that littered the ground. She scratched the back of her head, "So, um, Nick...Nicholas, sorry. Why... Why dont you like it when people touch you?" She asked as she looked up at him and tilted her head.

Nicholas flinched when she touched him again, then felt kind of bad for snapping at her earlier when she immediately withdrew, looking a little guilty. But at least she was making an effort to remember his little dislike. As for being 'best friends'...he decided not to comment. Then he thought about her next question. Why didn't he like being touched? That was a long story he didn't feel like telling. Nicholas lowered his eyes, looking away from her. He shrugged, staying silent.

He wondered what time it was. It didn't feel like it had been that long since he had entered the forest. It was one of those times where he wished he had a watch. Nicholas shivered again. It felt as if it were getting colder in the forest, especially with the trees blocking out the sun. The air might have seemed warm to anyone else, but to him, it wasn't in the least bit comfortable.

Eva looked at him patiently, she knew she wasn't getting an answer so she nodded, "Okay..." She whispered to herself as she looked back to the ground, "Sorry... Again, for touching you." She apologized in a small voice with a small frown. Her lip quivered as she tried to think of all the times her happy personality scared people off when she talked to him. At least he didn't think she was insane. Or did he? No, probably not, he seems nice.

"Are... Are you cold?" She asked as she took off her small black jacket, "I... I dont know if it will fit you very well but it is very warm." She held it out for him and wrapped one arm around herself to try and keep herself warm.

Nicholas blinked in confusion at the kind gesture. No one really tried to do anything nice for him, so he didn't understand why Eva was offering her own jacket when she looked like she was trying to stay warm herself. He shook his head, silently telling her to keep it, hoping that she would understand. Nicholas noticed how her happy mood seemed to drop a little and how her lower lip quavered, as if she were holding back tears. Now he was kind of afraid to open his mouth again, not wanting to hurt her feeling anymore than he already did.

Nicholas kind of just wanted to go back inside and get away from the forest. It was a bit warmer inside of the school anyway. Nicholas shifted from foot to foot nervously. This was the longest conversation he had had so far since getting to the academy. It felt weird. He was used to just keeping to himself and staying away from everyone.
