So when you say that there is a dodo do you mean that the characters in your story are different creatures? Or that one of your characters meets a dodo or has a dodo as a pet? (we are talking about the bird right?) XD
LOL Thanks! Confusing riddles written by ancient weirdos has got to be my specialty. xD One of my characters has a pet dodo, and it appears as quite a prominent feature of the book. ;) And yes, we are talking about the (extinct) bird. I think y'all will especially like him. :D

Lol, now I really can't wait! XD
Oh, I'm sure! The dodo bird as a pet is such an unique and cool idea!
I'M SCREAMING MY HEAD OF OVER HERE, FYI. Did I happen to mention that this looks amazing?? When's it coming out, again?
A damsel must learn to fight her distress...The land of Galnora lives under a curse. One day, after her eighteenth birth moon, Princess Orinda will fall in love and plunge the entire kingdom into fiery destruction, leaving behind nothing but ashes. The people have scorned and despised her all her life, but what they don't know is that she's spent years searching for a way to break the curse. Soon fear turns to desperation, and her people are ready to resolve this their way-- by killing her themselves.
For love is her demise...
When a failed assassination results in Orinda fleeing her home, the curse sill hanging over her, she turns to the only people who bear no hostility toward her: the mysterious-- and possibly deadly-- Wards. With them lies her only hope of ever breaking the curse, but staying in their world also means facing a new, even deadlier threat to the whole continent... an unknown enemy who just might be the cause of the Galnoran curse.
But time is running out fast, for love waits for no one... and neither does death.
Once upon a time, there was a fire.
That's... what this book is about. Sort of. :D (I'm sorry I didn't include the dodo...)
:D Thanks for the encouragement! You're going to have to wait quite a while, though, sorry. xD I'm three-fourths through drafting it, and then I'll set it aside to work on Andromeda and maybe my first fairytale retelling. ;)
This looks awesome, girl! And I for one love that title. I actually like the longer titles XDAlso... that synopsis! And you say you're not good at writing them... ha.
;) Your enthusiasm makes me want to hurry up and finish the silly book already! And while we're on the topic, I'm going to add that I draft books by hand. First drafts, that is, of course. So I have no way of giving word-count updates 'till I finish the first draft. *dies*
Ok... I am sold on dodos and burning worlds. You'd best finish that first draft soon! *dies*Also, you write them in notebooks/on paper?! *dies again*

Awesome, you like the dodo!! xD
Yes, I draft by hand. I can't get my words to flow out right while typing, so...

Really? xD I've always considered being able to type a story a superpower!! Ugh, my words never come out right on the computer.
That's so weird . . . I always type and write way faster on a computer, mainly because my story just flows out and I can't write it fast enough on paper!! :P
Elizabeth wrote: "That's so weird . . . I always type and write way faster on a computer, mainly because my story just flows out and I can't write it fast enough on paper!! :P"Same! I'll just give up if I write on paper.
Elizabeth wrote: "That's so weird . . . It's not good for my eyes. xD
*sighs* I actually made some progress last night. :)We'll see how much I can get done tonight, considering I have a lot less homework...
Okay, whew. I made "considerable" progress this week. Yay me. :D So here's a snippet, because... I just feel like it ;)Bren-Anvar's voice faded into an eerie, all-consuming silence that filled the entire cavern. Even the steady drip-drip-drip of lava seemed to yield to the sudden quiet. He stared at the flowing contours of the melted rock, a bleak look entering his eyes.
"Father..." He glanced back down at the Scroll. Then, his mind numb from the words now branded into his memory, he walked to the edge of the fiery river and held the parchment over the lava.
He watched, unmoving, as the precious Scroll dropped from his hand and slowly drifted down... down over the bubbling, glowering stream of liquefied heat, down into a fluttering dance in the air, down beneath the surface of burning oblivion.
"Do you need any help?"Rishley shook his head slowly, almost reluctantly. "No, it's gone now."
"It will come back as long as you ignore its pull." With her statement came an unspoken question.
He grunted. "It was an accident. An owl cracked the Orb."
"Was it bothering you, the Voice? Did it hurt?"
"Doesn't matter." He frowned at the lake surface beyond them. "But... it does feel strange to have a living voice in your body after seven years."
Yes, I probably will. Just had to throw that out there . . . ;)I am loving the description of lava and such though!! Extremely original!! ^.^

I am in total love with this description! Just the way you describe the lava is purely wonderful!

This is interesting....
Thanks, Grace!! :) I can't wait to share more! Also, yes, the dodo is probably the most amusing part of this entire story. :P
:D Actually, the dodo isn't the princess's sidekick. Her sidekick is different... the dodo is another character's sidekick. :)
so... it's been a whileI haven't touched TPWKB in forever, but yesterday I made some pretty important changes.
to like, the story. the whole story. the world and the concept and. everything.
xD I probably won't be working on this for another long while, but if you've wanted to know what happened to Orinda and Co., hang in there ;)
Elizabeth wrote: "I'm so here for this whenever you return. THE TITLE IS EPIC ENOUGH."well thank you ;)

I'm here too! Can't wait to see what you plan on doing with this one! =D

It's one of my standalone stories, a high fantasy novel complete with prophecies and curses and confusing riddles written by ancient weirdos and mysterious elemental-based powers... there's a dash of romance... a large and varied selection of characters from all over this continent... there's a dodo, by the way... and of course, fire.
More to come later. ;)
