On a drizzly August morning, the inhabitants of the hill town of Sanover, Himachal Pradesh, wake up to the shocking news of the murder of the exquisite, secretive, malicious, and thoroughly immoral Devika Singh.

As Superintendent of Police Vishwanath Sharma begins to sift through the hidden secrets of Devika Singh's life, it becomes evident that everyone who knew her seems to have a clear-cut motive for killing her.

Faced with the investigation of a crime that appears to have as many suspects as there are motives, Vishwanath Sharma probes the sinister web spun around a tangle of lies and deception.

I am really looking forward to finishing this book. It had me drawn in right from the beginning as I enjoy stories that leave out the 'fluff' and gets right into it with just enough detail about the characters to gain a relationship with them.

Please read my update(s) and read along with me regardless if this is your preferred genre ... it is much like reading an extended version of a television show such as, 'Law & Order' without having to rush through the story, while having to leave room for commercials!

A 5 Start Mystery!

A very well-written mystery, but what can I say about it without giving too much away? ... The characters and plot were interesting, which was set in India in the 70s and Ms. Brar did an exceptional job taking us there not only through descriptions, but by speaking in Hindi, or rather, her use of Hindi words within the book.

I really enjoy that the author was able to write a captivating mystery minus any gore, and cuss words ... simply a good-old fashion murder mystery you could give to your sweet Grandma or Grandpa who enjoys watching, 'Matlock,' 'Columbo,' McMillan & Wife' and the likes!

Should time permit; you could easily finish this book over the weekend as you will want to know who done it and why!

:)
