I was able to start Crowded Street on Sunday.

I wonder what Mrs. Hancock would say if she would know in the future there would be women scientist and engineers. She was so against Muriel learning astronomy.

Suki St Charles (goodreadscomsuki_stcharles) | 61 comments My book finally arrived today! I'll be starting it tonight.

Marilyn I decided to get the Kindle version and give it a go.

Suki St Charles (goodreadscomsuki_stcharles) | 61 comments So far, I really identify with Muriel in a lot of ways. I grew up in a very small town, and I've always been very shy and socially awkward. I was interested in math and science (especially astronomy) too, and I was discouraged from pursuing those interests because in small-town 1970s a girl was supposed to be focusing on preparing herself for marriage and motherhood. Thankfully, I didn't have the pushy, social-climbing type of mother that Mrs Hammond appears to be. I am very intrigued by Delia Vaughan the suffragette. Although this first section of the book was named after Clare, I found that she didn't really make much of an impression on me yet.
