Elizabeth Dawson | 10 comments I chose to read Monkey Business by Leslie Margolis because I loved reading her other book; Boys are Dogs. She is by far my favorite author I have read this year because her writing is very light-hearted, funny, and relatable. Her books are also super easy to read in a short amount of time which I also liked. Monkey Business is from her series about the character Annabelle, so it was really fun to read more stories about the same character. I thought Monkey Business was super cute because it addresses the ups and downs of friendship. This is such a perfect subject for kids to read about because they can learn valuable lessons to apply to their own relationships. Rachel, her best friend, is my favorite character in this story because she is very outgoing, opinionated, and strong-headed. She reminds me exactly of my childhood best friend. I actually like how the characters clash with one another and have issues when they are trying to strategize ways to make money. It's a realistic situation that many kids might experience with one of their friends. I also appreciated this book’s message about hard work; it really emphasizes the kids having a goal and working hard to accomplish it. Overall, I give this book an 8/10. I didn’t like it as much as Boys are Dogs because I found this one less funny. However, I still loved reading it because it was cute and again sent a valuable message to readers.
