1. Now - 7th Title submissions are posted. Submission guidelines allow for a maximum of 500 words and your books title only. As the shortlisted books will be judged purely on this post it is recommended that the authors think outside the box (no posts to other websites, good reads link only) and post something which draws people in and gives enough away to leave everyone wanting more!

2. September 8th: the shortlisted/finalists will be announced (selected by the EBM team) - NOW, LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

3. September 8th - 15th EBM members vote for the title they feel best represents our groups 'book of the month' here's the important part ***IF YOU VOTE FOR A TITLE & IT WINS, YOU MUST READ & REVIEW IT FOR THE AUTHOR!*** It needs to be completed by the end of SEPTEMBER

We understand sometimes "life" gets in the way but we don't want this to be habitual, if you can't commit to reviewing your choice, please don't vote. We had a number of people unable to review it in our inaugural month, consider this a warning that if you chose to participate but don't, you may be excluded from nominating and voting in the future.

4. September 16th Winning title announced based on tallied votes. The author provides everyone with a copy of their book (pdf/mobi/epub format depending on what the reviewer needs from these formats). Any other formats at discretion of author. If you are an author and don't know how to format your book to this format, we will do it for you. As an author you MUST agree to donate the book to all who voted for it and you must also agree not to extend deadlines for readers. The program exists with a purpose.

5. Members have 2 weeks to read/review the book for the winning author!

6. EBM itself will support the winner by promoting their book on our Facebook page (18,000+ followers) our Twitter page (50,000 followers) and on our Goodreads group & Newsletter (1,500 members and growing!)

7. Send us your email address and preferred format if your book wins, within a 24 hr period of the end of voting. You can do this by messaging it to us here on good reads.

Nominate the book you want to read below, the AUTHOR MUST BE A MEMBER OF OUR GROUP and THE AUTHOR MUST NOT BE PUBLISHED BY A MAJOR PUBLISHING HOUSE/COMPANY.

If you have any questions, please pm us directly. Thanks!

Due to the fact that no one applied or even attempted the EBM early bird program (a little bit of work would have gained a lot of reward), we will be issuing one less nomination than we would have. Depending on how many books are nominated, this will be 3, 4, 5 or 6 minus one spot.

GOOD READS LINKS ONLY, NO SALES INFORMATION INCL DISCOUNTED PRICES ETC, THERE ARE OTHER THREADS FOR THAT!

J.J. Stone (jjstonewrites) | 10 comments I would like to nominate my book The Mirror Stage! It is a crime thriller, and the first book in a trilogy.

Summary: Ada Brandt wants everyone to think she’s normal. A writing professor at a local Seattle college, she personifies the saying “those who can’t, teach” after a few failed attempts at becoming an author led her to the classroom. She owns a chic little house, drives a sporty car, and comes home to her dog after a long day at work. You’d never know she’s the daughter of one of Seattle’s most infamous serial killers — a fact Ada has labored her whole life to bury.

Then the FBI’s BAU team arrives to investigate a recent murder spree and Ada is strong-armed by the BAU’s bull-headed lead agent James Deacon into helping with the investigation. As Ada and the BAU dive deeper into the case, two things become glaringly apparent: this is not a typical murder case, and catching their suspect is only the beginning of an investigation that will alter the lives of everyone involved.

The Mirror Stage is the first installment of The Imago Trilogy and is J.J. Stone’s debut novel.

Anita Dickason (anitadickason) | 6 comments I would like to nominate my book Keeper of the Gift

B00MEM46WU

“From faerie to mortal, for the life you did save, a powerful gift I do give. Keeper of the gift, justice you will serve. Evil cannot hide from the power to see, and when evil walks, all will be revealed. When the banshee’s wail is heard, in death’s sweet slumber, the gift will be held. Daughter to daughter, when courage acts, the power will pass."

Kerry Branson is a police detective turned private investigator. During the investigation of an armed robbery of a convenience store, she suffers a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head as she attempts to save the life of a young boy. When she wakes from her coma, she finds her near-death experience has caused her life to take a bizarre and eerie turn. She has been given a strange and powerful gift—a power that dates back hundreds of years. A power so improbable that she questions her very sanity. As she attempts to understand and use her new abilities, she draws the attention of a serial killer, dubbed by the media—the Ravine Killer. He has her in his sights as his next target.

Mike Luoma (mike_luoma) Hello Miners! Like science fiction set in the not-too-distant future? You might enjoy my Vatican Assassin Trilogy. I'd like to submit the first book, Vatican Assassin for consideration for September. The full length novel is available for free at all fine eBooksellers

An out of control interplanetary War rages between the west and Islam. They can't let her give them the Moon!

"Officially" assigned as PR man to the Vatican Mission on Lunar Prime, BC seems like a pleasant young priest working public relations for the NcC. But under his cover he's a weapon. As he goes off, the repercussions will be cosmic...

message 12: by Jeff (new)

Jeff Bauer (jeffbauer) | 3 comments I'd like to nominate my book, Sadie Sapiens. It currently enjoys a 4.8/5.0 rating from 18 Amazon reviews.

"How smart is YOUR dog?"

Sadie Sapiens is the story of Emma, a shy and insecure high schooler whose discovery of a tiny smart dog, Sadie, helps her deal with life’s challenges, creating a unique bond of intelligence and love.

Emma, trying to avoid her overbearing mother and jerk of a younger brother, discovers her new puppy really understands her. They create a secret spoken language, Doglish, that draws them closer together and helps protect Emma from the pain of growing young love and a family that is falling apart.

This story, about a small dog that learns to communicate with her owner, starts off cutesy but soon explores the dark side of animal cruelty and the way we humans treat dogs as property, to be loved or discarded on a whim. There's also a speculative scifi/bio angle on why a dog would become intelligent and how much fun it is to discuss the human condition from a non-human angle.

Lexie Conyngham | 2 comments Having erased my sixth book, I'm following advice and nominating my first book instead!

It's Death in a Scarlet Gown.

1802. An ancient Scottish university is wracked by murder. A vindictive professor, an uncouth student, and a man seeking ministry lie dead, but who wanted to kill them? Charles Murray, a student with enough problems of his own, is drawn into the mystery, where neither innocuous accidents nor good friends are all they seem. Death in a Scarlet Gown is the first in the Murray of Letho series, set in Georgian Scotland.

The rose that represents existence, beauty and class.

It currently has 7 reviews with a 4.42/5 Rating.

The Gardener of Baghdad tells a story about Adnan, a bookshop owner in modern-day, war-torn Baghdad, where bombings, corruption and assault are everyday occurrences and the struggle to survive has suffocated the joy out of life for most. But when he begins to clean out his bookshop of forty years to leave his city in search of somewhere safer, he comes across the story of Ali, the Gardener of Baghdad, Adnan rediscovers through a memoir handwritten by the gardener decades ago that beauty, love and hope can still exist, even in the darkest corners of the world.

Pete Carter (petecarter) | 15 comments The Day Uncle Jimmy Learned to Fly
The Day Uncle Jimmy Learned to Fly by Pete Carter Humour for all ages, with a moral: that looks can be deceptive. I suppose you could call it SF/fantasy with a difference, but don’t let that bother you.

James Jones, Interplanetary Minerals Surveyor happens across a world which defies all the rules that any sensible planet should follow. It certainly fools the ship’s computer, which causes him to crash and be marooned in this strange place. To six year old Kipper, who lives in a crumbling cottage with his Ma and Pa and his sisters Anemone and Hernia, the world of course seems normal and he takes for granted the grass that moves out of his way, the family ancestor tree, his spontaneously combusting cat and other things which to the stranger just don’t make sense.

Wits are in short supply in Kipper’s household, in fact in the population as a whole, but Kipper takes it upon himself to be Jimmy’s mentor, under the suspicious glare of his Ma and the total indifference of his Pa. Ma is suspicious because Jimmy’s arrival seemed to coincide with the heavy blanket of snow, that wasn’t cold and didn’t melt, and which he didn’t want to talk about.

Uncle Jimmy has a hard time adapting to the unnatural laws of this world, and an even harder time learning to fly, as inevitably he must. But when disaster strikes the village and the inhabitants see their world falling apart, literally, all eyes turn to the recent stranger. But are they seeking salvation, or retribution?

Put credibility aside for a couple of hours, read the book, and find out. All makes sense in the end, or is it the beginning? Kipper is a great little character, but his future depends on your reviews!

“The book moves forward with impressive momentum . . . Like running up a spiral staircase--you might see where it's going, but the twists will leave you dizzy.”—Kirkus Reviews

“This medical thriller is chock-full of fascinating ideas—memory erasure, memory transfer, the military applications of memory—that will hook readers almost immediately.”—Publisher’s Weekly

A teenage girl hobbles into the emergency room on the stump of an amputated leg, only to die in the arms of Dr. Jake Warner. She leaves behind a handgun, a strange diary, and many unanswered questions. Haunted by his inability to save the girl, Jake photocopies the diary before turning it over to the police. Days later another patient dies unexpectedly, and Jake also discovers that he has somehow forgotten everything from an entire day. Seemingly by coincidence he has also just won a free vacation to Europe. The trip comes with strange restrictions, but he accepts and brings the girl’s diary with him. He can't shake the feeling that something is terribly wrong, and that somehow it's related to his memory loss and the diary. Despite everything that has happened to him, Jake falls in love with Tykeria, a tourist that he witnesses get mugged on the streets of Milan. Together they try to figure out the connections among the deaths, the diary, and Jake’s forgotten day. But Jake’s problems, including his memory loss, are only just beginning, and somehow he must cross the void of lost memories not only to reveal the true cause of his patient’s deaths but also to save himself.

A.M. Dunnewin (amdunnewin) Hi everyone! :) I'd like to nominate my book The Benighted, which is the first book in a saga. Although the story has a very dark and twisted story line, here is the plot in a nutshell:

The Benighted (The Benighted Saga, #1) by A.M. Dunnewin

The prison had no name. It was built to shun its captors from the world, to strip the humanity inside its walls to its barbaric state. And inside one of the countless cells sits the last Mandolyn, the last royal whose family has been brutally murdered. Sitting - and waiting – is Skylar Mandolyn, imprisoned for helping in the escape of her knight who has been framed for the King's death. As she feels the tremors crawl up from the stone floors, and hears the countless screams that echo throughout the hollow halls, Skylar knows that a war is coming. Her only hope is in the person she has tried to save – Harlin, her knight who was sworn to protect her. His presence surrounds her when the darkness screams louder than the prisoners, and when Death smiles a faceless grin in between the cracks of the stone. The mystery was never how Harlin escaped. It's how he will return.

R.C. (rcreadwrite) | 2 comments Hi all--I would like to nominate my legal thriller Hallways in the Night.

Are you looking for a book that starts off strong and holds your attention until the last page? If yes, then Hallways in the Night is one I'm confident you will enjoy. Reader reviewers have been both positive and enthusiastic. I hope members of eBook Miner will consider Hallways in the Night for September's Book of the Month.

"When a veteran cop tries to arrest baseball's home run king, one of them will end up on trial and the other will end up dead."

A page-turner from start to finish, Hallways in the Night will take you on a journey from inner city Atlanta to the upper echelons of the State's power structure where back room deals are made in pursuit of the kind of justice that only money can buy.

As the trial date gets closer, the stakes will get bigger in a case where nobody can afford to tell "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Eli Kittim (eliofkittim) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I would like to nominate my end times prophecy book, #The_Little_Book_of_Revelation http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19...

This book uncovers new information that changes everything we thought we knew about Jesus. The author concludes that scripture is essentially a collection of prophecies, not a record of past events. The book's unique argument is that Christ's incarnation has not yet occurred in the world of time—it is a future event. This is a groundbreaking work on Jesus and the end times.

This is a daringly provocative book that uncovers the ancient secret of the mystery of Christ. It’s a retelling of the Jesus story. It decodes symbols and codes to unveil a large number of thought-provoking scriptural texts that denote the existence of a secret and forbidden knowledge. This powerful treatise uncovers a post-biblical conspiracy, which has essentially turned prophecy into history. It views the Jesus legend of the gospels as historical fiction, or as biographical literary fiction. The book’s unique argument is that the gospels are non-historical stories that foretell the prophecy of Christ's coming. From the author’s viewpoint, the gospels are true, not historically, but theologically, or, as he would argue, prophetically! What we have is, the Messiah’s history written in advance in story form. But, sadly, we have confused biblical literature with history, and turned prophecy into biography.

Rustin Petrae (rustinpetrae) | 50 comments I would like to nominate the first book in my Histories of Purga series, Dragon, a sci-fi/fantasy novel set in a new, and amazing, world.

I read Dragon and liked it. This is worth reading. - Review by: Piers Anthony (Bestselling author of the Xanth novels)

HE WAS HER ENEMY. SHE SAVED HIS LIFE. THE REST IS HISTORY.

Rooks have embraced science and technology, inventing helpful, microscopic robots called nanos to create any machine they need.

The Terraqouis are their opposite. They embraced the spiritual, developing a deep bond with nature. This bond allows them to shift into the animal that resembles their own, inner selves.

These two races have fought each other with brutal savagery for centuries. But things change when the Rook prince, Rone Varlamagne, is attacked and left for dead by an unknown force. Keiara, the daughter of the Terraqouis chieftain, finds him, but instead of killing him, she saves his life. It is one act. One conscious choice. But it changes everything for them and the entire world of Purga.

Together, they face foes from every direction...and they will stop at nothing to protect each other.

Thank you,

Hi. Please may I enter my ebook, 'A day with OCD (not that I have it)'

Here it is on GoodReads
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22888839-a-day-with-ocd?from_search=true

Ever wondered what it's like to have OCD? Why it's there and why people don't 'just stop it?' Well, the simple answer is, I don't know what or why, but I know I cannot stop. I'm okay about it though: it's not the end of the world.

Somehow strange thoughts have slowly turned into annoying habits. Do you think I have reason to believe I might be showing signs of something I never thought I would experience?

Thank you!
Helen :)

John Wood | 5 comments Saigon Tease So, What Did You Do in Nam, Dad? by John Wood

Hello everyone. I'd like to nominate my humorous memoir of my tour in Vietnam: Saigon Tease: So, What Did You Do in Nam, Dad?

"Catch-22" was the first classic farce about American military life. "M*A*S*H," set later during the Korean War, continued that tradition. But few books have chronicled the behind-the-scenes absurdities of the Vietnam War.

In the tradition of "Sgt. Bilko" and "What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?" SAIGON TEASE follows the misadventures, narrow escapes, and anguish of an 18-year-old in Vietnam in 1967 as he awkwardly transitions from boy to man. But it differs from its predecessors in one significant way: the bizarre escapades in SAIGON TEASE are all true. And that 18-year-old was me.

Many Americans, when asked what comes to mind when they think of Vietnam, would probably say anger, torment, sadness. I had a different experience. For that reason, the tone of my book is not angry, tormented, or sad. The war is a backdrop to my story, not the stage. SAIGON TEASE isn't meant to diminish the suffering and sacrifice of those who fought, bled, and/or died there. Instead, its purpose is to pay homage to Vietnam, its people, and those who served there.

SAIGON TEASE is not a war story, and yet it is very much a war story. It's not a diary from the front lines; it's a chronicle from behind the lines where the vast majority of Vietnam vets served. It's a saga of wonder and beauty and innocence and mischief set in exotic Southeast Asia during the pivotal war of our generation.

But perhaps the most significant thing about SAIGON TEASE is that these tales were not the exceptions; they were the norm for most men and women who went there. And that story has never been told.

Michelle Thurston | 6 comments It's ok, I just want to help promote his books, and I am getting confused on why it said he needed to be a member when he was. I am just confused. Trying to figure it out myself.

Hi Michelle, the program is focused on promoting authors who are members of this goodreads group. You can nominate other people but they must be a member of the eBook Miner group to be considered.

Thanks for assisting An Indian. I was in the city earlier doing some things, normally I would have got onto this earlier.

Michelle, your dad will have to be a member of this group for his book to be nominated. This is clearly stipulated under the first post below point seven.

Nominate the book you want to read below, the AUTHOR MUST BE A MEMBER OF OUR GROUP and THE AUTHOR MUST NOT BE PUBLISHED BY A MAJOR PUBLISHING HOUSE/COMPANY.

There are a number of reasons for this including ensuring that the author can give out copies of his/her work and that they give permission to do so.

Randy Eberle | 0 comments I would like to nominate my debut novel, Gemini. Adrienne Morgan and her family are haunted by the twins that she'd aborted nearly twenty years ago...

The novel has been very well received on both Goodreads and Amazon, where it has spent the past month and counting on the bestsellers list for Occult Suspense. In its first week, Gemini debuted at #1 in Occult Suspense and #6 in Occult Horror.
