Beverly | 1 comments I am getting my brain geared up for Halloween (my favorite holiday). What are the best creepy, scary, or just plain yucky books to read when getting in the Halloween spirit?

I really liked The Stand by Stephen King - it's kind of long, but it's definitely very creepy.

When Ian was in preschool, we discovered a book named The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything. It's by Linda Williams. Yes, it's a children's story but I still enjoy it today.

Alric | 1 comments Well they aren't really Halloween-esque in the normal sense but John Bellairs wrote a lot of gothic mystery books that in my opinion fit perfectly. Stories of cursed objects, vengeful spirits, and secret societies etc. Some books that come to mind are Curse of the Blue Figurine, House with the clock in it's walls, and The Letter, the Witch, and the Ring. Suitable for older children, teens, and of course adults! :-)
