Prudence Oakes had a strict rule about arsenic not being used in the household. Her reasoning was never explained. Did that divert your attention from her being the potential killer?

Phrynne | 607 comments It actually made me suspicious of her. It was as though she had an experience of arsenic poisoning in the past !

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I kept asking myself why she wouldn't let arsenic in the house. Did someone in her family die from poisoning in the past? I wish the author would have cleared this up.

I kept waiting to figure out what had happened to her to make her so adamant about banning arsenic from the home. I, too, wish Thompson had cleared this up.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments It seems even odder that Frank never asked her. Or did he? I was listening to the audiobook so I might have missed it.

I agree, Veronica. If I remember the scene correctly, she ended the conversation and he didn’t pursue further questions. It seemed like a natural next inquiry.

~ Giulia ~ | 193 comments I was so curious about the reason for banning the poison from the house! Too bad we'll never know :(

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I also suspected that there might have been an incident with arsenic in her past, but it was glossed over in the book and never fully explained.
