Hi! I'm Jen (my profile says Jennifer - I'm in the right place). And wow, I've gotta see if I can change that because I am feeling very jealous of people with names like Carmen the bootyshaker temptress and Abbie the Disco Superfly. :)
Oh, yeah, we need a team name. I have a weird sense of humor so I nominate the following:
Cooler Than Absolute Zero
The Most Interesting Team in the World
We Found Waldo
Oprah's Book Club
Between the Covers
A Novel Idea
Spine Crackers
So should we decide who's reading for what? My current book is Liars' Paradox and it works for-Suspense/Thriller
-Crime/Mystery
-Published in 2018-19
-Part of a series.
Well, I think we start by reading something for the free space and choosing a name. And who is captain? I know it isn't me.As far as planned books go, I am in 2 other challenges so I don't plan that far ahead; I'm basically on a week-to-week cycle. I am very flexible - I've found that it's quite easy to make things work for 2 challenges, or read one quickly and then read another. I have 285 books on my to-read list, so I'm not worried about finding something that fits.

While she is on the other side of the US, her and I talk off GR as well.
We can pick but can't start reading for the free space until the game has begun. We won't know until the first call what shelf we are reading for. At that point everyone will need to pick a book to read that matches the shelf.
Q: When does the game begin?A: The game begins AFTER I CALL the First Shelf on Tuesday 6/4.
Q: What is the book page minimum?
A: Minimum page requirement is 140 pages
Q: I started reading my book on Saturday, but found it on the shelf you called on Sunday. Can I use that book?
A: No. Only books found on the shelf AND started AFTER the shelf was announced will be allowed.
When can we start reading for the free space?
A. FREE SPACE selection can be made early BUT you must wait until on the day the game starts to begin reading

I called Carmen a “ bootyshaker temptress” as a joke a couple of years ago and it stuck. But it was just supposed to be a joke 😂😂😂.

Is this call being made today or Thursday? Today is Tuesday June 4.
My free spot is Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier by Mark Frost. Just downloaded it from the library. Hope to have it done in a few days.Do I have to post a selection post for the historical fiction or can I just post completion when it is due? (Speaking of which, when is each of these due)? I ask because I am doing the lost socks thing and it is helpful to be able to use something for multiple challenges.
Hopefully this will answer everyone's questions:1. All calls will be on Tuesday's
2. No book may be started prior to shelf call. i.e. The book I started reading on Monday, but haven't finished can not be used for the shelf call on Tuesday.
3. Everyone reads for all shelves.
4. A selection and a completion post is requested for each shelf call. You can change your selection, but please post a selection post.
5. You must at least check-in a minimum of once a week with the team.
6. Ideally your books are read each week, however this is not required and you can take a little longer. That being said, if you are behind three calls/books you are subject to disqualification from the game.
7. A stamp for bingo card can not be requested until all members of the team have posted their completion for said shelf.
8. All called shelves must have been read for and completed to claim a bingo line. If you have a completed line, but are missing a called shelf, you cannot claim bingo.
Is this right?Selection Post: Historic

. It fits because it is tagged "history" on it's main page.

Unfortunately, IT has to say "historical" so this book may not work unless you can show it has a historical tag. "History" won't work

Celia -It will help if you keep the format of the post similar to the example provided by Ezi. This will help them stand out and I won't miss them.
You are in luck that your book was tagged as historical. Strictly speaking a memoir wouldn't be historical because be definition that is a book written about a time period prior to the authors life. But since it is tagged historical you are good.

Just out of curiosity, is it MPG Historical or can it be tagged Historical any number of times? (Because frankly, I've noticed that if you take MPG out of the equation, you can use any book for any category. There is always somebody who thinks it fits some weird category that it doesn't really).Oh, and I had to change my free space book to Something Rotten by Jasper Fforde because after an hour with the Twin Peaks book I wanted to throw it against a wall (except it was on my Kindle, so I didn't).
Yes, it doesn't need to be MPG, which means, yes, you can usually find just about any tag on any book that you would like. The only rule was that it wasn't you tagged the book today with that tag for the 1 tag. So don't cheat the system.

Review: Once again, a brilliant Thursday Next novel that will leave book lovers in stitches. I don't read these one after the other because they are just so silly that you can always pick up one after a long time and re-acquaint yourself with the story without a problem, so they are an excellent thing to read as a break between several serious literary novels.
Team, Sophie (US) has asked to withdraw and I will replace her with another Sophie 😂😂😂.

Hey guys, good to meet you. Just so I’m 100% clear, we’re reading historical and free space? Or just historical?

Both. You don't have to get them read in this one week. Especially since you are just coming in
But yes, both are shelves that need to be read for stamps

Review: Although this was well-written and a compelling story, at times I found myself reluctant to pick it up because I was so angry at the treatment of the main character by her husband! Forced myself to finish it anyway, but it was definitely not a cheery story.

I had a book for my free selection, but its a memoir also listed as a cookbook. I wasn't sure how much of the book the family pictures and recipes took up at first since listened to audio. but looking at the book i feel like best not to use. Isn't like a cozy where at the back is maybe a handful of recipes. So reselecting.

Review: An original re-telling of the life of Jesus in which he uses the theory that there may have existed a twin in the shadows. It would lend itself to the idea that Jesus did not actually resurrect but merely that the twin stepped into the role. It is very different in style to some of Phillip Pullman's other books (His Dark Materials and the Book of Dust are amazing) but enjoyable and fairly quick read.
