OMG! You guys are awesome. Usually, I get in 3 books a month and that's if some parts are on audio so I can listen in the car, ect. I can't even imagine 5 or more.Kudos!LOL.
I will try to read 10 of theseThe Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Rising Dark
Stand Up Straight and Sing!
The Girl in the Road
The Reading Lessons
Three Bargains
Cloud Atlas
----------- Added ---------
Oh, my! I am so far behind on ALL my monthly reading goals as well as my reading goal for the year! But, I am ambitious (not always realistic...who said that's fun anyway?!! Lol!) and I do love a challenge and since simply reading IS my overall goal, I'll go for 9 this time!! I won't stop adding books to my To Read List and everything I add I want to read now! Lol!Happy Reading to all!
Good luck on everyone's challenges! :)

Lol Kanita I can definitely agree! My monthly and yearly goals are a bit depressing right now as well and it's because I'm not realistic. I'm gonna work on that for 2015....maybe lol.

Question. Are the books for this challenge suppose to be Historical or just AA books in general? #itsbeenawhile lol
The books you read don't have to be historical or AA. I only add the theme (1 book) to add an extra bit of fun. This is just a way to keep track of your monthly reading.
This month was a total bust for me. I can't believe I didn't at least finish one book. And this was the month BEFORE my busy season. Geez!! lol
There are still 5 more days left :0) Some months just aren't reading months. How is everyone else doing? Any standouts?
I did meet my reading goal for the year. With the holidays coming, I will be lucky to get in 3 books a month
This month has been kind of a bust for me as well. I'm normally a voracious reader but I haven't felt motivated recently. Maybe it's all the reading for my classes, haha.
Even though I don't usually participate in the challenges, I enjoy reading about your progress. I did read two books this month. Who knows, maybe next month, I'll aim for three. LOL.
Overall I am behind in what I wanted to be reading this year - and as more fall books that I want to read get published I feel like I am pedaling backwards. I need to add pleasure reading to my daily schedule. :)
My favorite reads this month have actually been audio books. Bird Box *****
The Woman in White *****
The New Moon's Arms ****
All 3 were excellent. Still have 3 more books to complete over the weekend. I have been in the mood (always at this time of year) for books that lean to the supernatural side of things. I will probably get lost in my Edgar Allan Poe collection sometime next month. :0)
For me Emma was a real standout and is definitely my favorite Jane Austen novel thus far. Once I got the hang of the language it made me laugh a lot, lol.

So glad to hear Bird Box is so good - it is the next book in my audio queue!
Also agree that The New Moon's Arms is an excellent read - I think this book is a wonderful introduction to Nalo Hopkinson's work especially if the reader is not a big speculative fiction reader.
My favs for September (though I am hoping that a couple of the books that I am now reading will also make my "best" list)Mr Loverman by Bernardine Evaristo
I will admit that if I have had not read this author before I probably would not have picked up the book because of the title. But this was an amazing read and will end up in my top lists for the year.
The Bird Skinner by Alice Greenway
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book but it held me captivate from the beginning.
Anastasia, I have not read Jane Austen yet. I attempted Pride & Prejudice last year, but I wasn't in the mood for it. It was boring me, so I put it down for later. Beverly,
Bird Box is the perfect book for audio! Glad you are going to experience it.
New Moon was my first Hopkinson book and I will be reading more. I like her style.
Mr. Loverman sounds good.

Have you watched any of the movies made of the books? I read P&P when I was 14 or so but I had already seen the movies several times. Makes it easier to follow along.
I may be one of the few remaining people on the planet, but No, I haven't watched any P&P movies. Sad.. I know. I didn't have any trouble following it, I was just bored with all their mooning over men. I am not a romantic! LOL

Our theme this month is migration. Whether forced or voluntary, both of our books this month focus on people moving from one place to another.
Abraham's Well: A Novel & The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man. Our novels last month also shared this theme, so if you didn't get a chance to read them, now is a great time to read 'Til the Well Runs Dry & Small Island
So take advantage of that, or choose your own. This month read at least 1 book with a migration theme.
You can list your choices and goals here and/or on the widget.
