Thoughts on the first few chapters?

*SPOILERS for chapters 1-6 present below*

I'm still waiting on the call from the bookstore to tell me that my book has arrived ^^

Maybe if I didn't know they were actually aliens, the /mysterious/ scenes would seem less cheesy?

The writing so far has not been very impressive. I found myself rolling my eyes at some of the scenes >.<

But it's just the beginning...maybe it will get better

I was surprised by how much of a butthead Daemon is! lol! I am imagining the characters to be a lil bit older though as I read along, since I haven't been a teenager in a looong time, for me it fits better..and I think 17 is kinna young, so yeah..hehe! I'm liking how things are going so far.

Definitely quite cliche and quite twilighty. It's not the best writing style ever, but I still find myself really enjoying it! The fact that Katy has a book blog makes her very likeable. I hope it's a big part of the story.

I hate Daemon right now. He is incredibly annoying. And the characters seem a little bit more immature than I imagined. And what is up with Dee wearing wedges while gardening? Seriously....? And the scene where Katy and Daemon first meet and she's all dumbstruck cause he's "hot" and he's all like "Going once..." and then that little banter with Katy calling him names as she walks away. I don't know....I hope this gets better lol

Really not feeling this at the moment. I'm hardly the target demographic for it, being a 28 year old male, but that never stopped me enjoying Geek Girl recently or anything else (book, TV, movie, video game) in the past. The dialogue feels strained, I think it reads very much like Twilight and I quite literally rolled my eyes at one point.

I'm gonna keep going, but so far it's certainly the least enjoyable thing I've read all year!

I finished reading the first 6 chapters of this book a few minutes ago and I can honestly say that I'm having fun discovering this new series.
Katy and Daemon are very interesting characters and the way they speak to each other is hilarious, to say the least.
Although the writting is not something really impressive, I'm looking forward to read the next chapters :)

I'm really enjoying it so far!

Um... I rolled my eyes 85% of the time I spent reading these first chapters. So far, this book is just way too twilighty for me. I do hope it gets better later on, though.

Just finished reading the first chapters and I have to agree that maybe, if I didn't already know they're aliens, I would be more interested in the whole mysteriousness surrounding the characters, but so far it's just annoying me. I'll admit that I'm enjoying this way more than I thought I would, and I laughed out loud with some of Katy and Daemon's conversations. I hope it gets better!

I'm really surprised of how much I am liking this. I'm really glad that I'm finally reading it!

Although I agree that this book comes across as a bad copy of twilight, it has still held my interest and I'm curious to see how the rest of the book will play out.

I've just finished the first 6 chapters and I really like the story. I feel Katy is extremely confused about what is happening around her and why Daemon isn't like her. It is absolutely hilarious how he acts and how he protects his sister. It's both cute and one way annoying, but I'm sure when he says "Katy, you aren't like her" he means that they are different creatures and Katy will be terrified when she discovers this.
However, I'm really enjoying the book, so I'm going on with the next chapters. :)

First, I hate Daemon. Second, I feel like they are true to their age. They kind if seem immature because they are like most kids their age. Third, I'm thankful Jennifer killed the dad off before the book began instead if in the book, I can't handle all that sadness right now. Finally, I hate Daemon.

I dont know what to think about this book, its just to simple sometimes and so not realistic.... I thought daemon wasn't like a total jackass and soooo rude. Argh i really hate him for being so disrespectful.

I kind of like it this far, but i´m not loving it, kind of a slow start and now it´s finally picking up. Fingers crossed that it gets better!

I absolutly agree with that for these first chapters!! :)

I defiantly agree with you. I would be more into the story if I had gone in not knowing anything

I love the beginning of this book and the writing style. but something is off for me. I just don't know exactly what it is.

I do enjoy the writing style as well, but Kat's caracter so far is kinda meh for me, but let's see how it goes...

So I'm a little bit irritated that obviously at some point Katy is going to end up with Daemon. But he's such a complete asshole to her that I'm getting frustrated that she even bothers to find him attractive. He doesn't deserve any of her.

And the whole scene in the woods was very twilight-esque.

I'm hoping this story gets better

It's not great for literary merit but this is so addictive ... And I am liking the snarky dialog

I am liking this one a lot, but I kind of wish I had gone into it blind rather than reading the synopsis beforehand. Knowing what Daemon is takes away from the story a lot more than I thought it would.
