He self-publishes a book every month or two and they all seem to be very popular on the Amazon Westerns best seller list. His latest Return to Hardeman County, is currently #1. Any C.J. Petit fans out there? Why do his books have such amazing appeal?

I’ve seen them available on kindle unlimited, but haven’t picked one up yet, might give his books a try now that I’m back in the saddle so to speak.
C.J. Petit writes feel-good, HEA stories with a Moral about good over evil, and how doing the right thing pays in the end. His books often have a long ending that tells how the central characters continued in life with children and success. C.J.'s early books suffered from typos and lack of editing. His story-telling has gained skill as has his proofreading. They are quick, easy reads without complex plots for the most part.
I think C.J.'s book appeal is the reader leaves feeling good/happy and pleased that good/right triumphed.
