Hello and Welcome!

Do you love to read book series? Are you constantly adding more series to your TBR? Looking for something new to binge? Wanting to chat with someone about "THAT ENDING!"? Looking for some accountability or motivation to get through all those series' you've fallen behind on?

If yes to any of these questions or similar ones you might be at the right place!

So I started this as a way to help track my series. I was an avid user of Fictfact before they closed *cry* and I loved how it could show my exact progress in a series, which series' I've finished etc. Well this if far from that but I am working to create here a fun way you can track those series' you are reading, want to delve into or have wrapped up. Yes you can do this on your personal shelves but this is a fun way to show off what you have going on, to talk about a series, etc.

Please feel free to invite others you think might benefit or enjoy this group!

So as you can see my name is Jamie. I have way too many series' I have started that I need to finish. Over 100!! Yikes! Not to mention so many more I want to start! Over time I will be showing those to you in the proper folders and encourage you to make your own topics to share off your series journey. I read a wide range of books for all ages. Especially those with a fantasy, paranormal or thriller aspect. But I read it all. Westerns are my least read however. I am also a huge manga fan.

So what about you?

Hi Jamie, thanks for the invitation! This group sounds like a great way to keep track of all the series I read. This year I tried keeping track in a paper journal but now I don’t even know what I did with that journal! So since I’m on Goodreads every day anyway, this sounds like a better plan.

I read a lot of YA and Epic Fantasy and it feels like every book I pick up is in a series. So I’d like to keep track of my progress as well as the endings for each book (behind spoiler tags) for those year-long waits until the next book is published.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Hi Jamie!!!

So I am a series hoarder. I start so many and only occasionally finish them. It's not always my fault though! lol. Sometimes manga take forever to translate or sometimes aren't fully translated at all! :(

Oh and also it's my 27th B day today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Thanks! I keep forgetting how old I am though. I have to literally do math to remember! lol.

I still feel like I'm like 16-18... :/

Hi hi! So glad you came here! I struggle with finishing series too. I hope this group helps with that. I t is something I really want to get better at. And getting to those series I have been sitting on for years to start!
I try to be patient with translations but yes the never translated or series that you wonder if they will ever be finished....so infuriating!

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments It's so hard! I swear I start like 25 new series at year (at least) and then only finish like 1 a year?? That's for both book series and manga series!

I hope it helps me too! I really need to start to focus on finishing up my series!

They really infuriate me. I wanna know the ending!! It's like a forever cliffhanger. :(

Yes. Like Nana, Vol. 1 (Nana, #1) by Ai Yazawa . Loving the series but the author has not picked it back up in several years. I want the ending. Good or bad I want it! Or Crimson Hero, Vol. 1 (Crimson Hero, # 1) by Mitsuba Takanashi that was never fully translated and likely never will be. I try to stick to official formats but this is when I look to scanlations because it is the only way I will ever get to finish. Then there are novels like Scrap by Emory Sharplin Gameboard of the Gods (Age of X, #1) by Richelle Mead that are just never finished for whatever reason. UGH!

message 13: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Really annoying. I try to stick to official formats when I can too but I'm usually too impatient and also it's hard to find most of them. Unless they are super popular like Skip Beat!, Vol. 01 by Yoshiki Nakamura then they are usually rare and hard to find. :(

Aly (alyp_01) | 358 comments Hi, I'm Aly and I constantly start series and never finish. I'm better if I can binge them all at once, but if they're longer than 4 books I struggle to read them all. There's a bunch that I need to start over from the beginning since it's been so long. Hopefully this will help me get back to them!

Kelsey Ketch (ketch1714) | 2 comments Thanks for the invite, Jamie! I do love reading series. There are some series I have yet to finish (like Perfected) and some I'm still waiting to see if the author will finish them--several have been years since the second book was released (like Fire & Flood).

I am excited you’ve joined. I hope this group helps inspire you to read some of those series. I know it’s easy when they get pushed off, especially since we all have so much going on in life.

Kai Charles(Fiction State Of Mind) (fictionstateofmind) I have to sit down and make an official list bit I need to catch up on the game of thrones book, the rest of the books in the Cinder series and Daughter of smoke and bone

I love the Cinder Series! Still need to start Game of Thrones (was waiting for it all to finish) especially.

message 37: by Marianne (new)

Marianne Boutet A belated "thanks" for inviting me to the group. I have two approaches to a series: I will either burn it up and do nothing else until I finish it (or get to the point where I need to wait for the next one) - or I will browse on a book or three and come back when I am "in the mood" to browse some more. It is rare that I DNF. That said, I have a LOT of series to post. If you have any questions or comments about my posts, be sure to let me know. I am already delighted that I see series that others are posting that I have not tried yet. Yay!

Is there a place where we can ask if a series is good or worth continuing? I’m wondering what you all think of The 100 (The 100, #1) by Kass Morgan The 100. Book 1 was okay but I’m on the fence about continuing on.

I can make a thread in this folder. :)

I am with you on the 100. I read it, thought it okay but didn't love it but never made it to book 2. I have liked the first several seasons of the show though and it has me wanting to give it another chance. I know there are major differences though.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

message 44: by Sans (new)

Sans | 722 comments Thanks for the invite, Jamie, and hello to all!

I’m Sans and I too have a lot of series that I keep meaning to read and finish. Right now, most of those are comic books/graphic novels, Star Wars books (particularly the now-titled Legends line), YA fantasy, and historical romances.

Since I’m recovering from surgery for the next two weeks and working remotely, I’ve got some time to finally put some dents in my TBR shelf.

I’m looking forward to chatting and making progress!

I hope your recovery is fast and smooth!

Thanks Jamie! I'm feeling good, so hopefully it'll stay this way.

I keep thinking I'll read the Legends book in order, but then I get pulled into a book from further down the line. I'm also trying to figure out if I should put all the Legends books as one series, or group them together, ie the Old Republic books are one series, the Clone Wars books are another, the New Jedi Order is a third, etc.

I am putting officially series' together (New Jedi Order, Jedi Academy, Han Solo trilogy, etc) then I am going to take the "standalone" books and making an area for them. Otherwise 1 post would be WAY too long for all the books. But I do want to try to read in order as best I can. I've read enough out of order already but now that no more will be publishing for that storyline, I want to start at the beginning.

That's what I was thinking too! It's more doable to say I'm going to read the original Thrawn trilogy instead of the 100+ Legends books!

He is!! Love how he doesn't sexualize female characters or give them those weird, hyper-creepy descriptions so many male writers do. And his plot lines are so intricate and well planned, the books just suck you right in.
