Have you ever read a mystery, crime, thriller, spy novel or true crime book that you've thought would make a bingeworthy television series? Now's your chance to share your ideas by nominating one book you'd think would make for great TV that you couldn't stop watching. Don't nominate one that's already been done for tv or film; otherwise, there are no limits on choosing a book.

Patty | 4619 comments The House of Stairs by Barbara Vine (Ruth Rendell).

message 3: by Suzy (new)

Suzy (goodreadscomsuzy_hillard) | 702 comments I've always thought the Martin Walker, Bruno, Chief of Police books would make a great tv series. They've got everything - interesting characters, fabulous location, food & wine and lots of romance/sex. So I'll nominate that first book, but think the series would need to cover more books to sustain it. Hope that's ok.

The group read the book four years ago, but since it was a while ago, sure, why not??

That seems to be out of print here in the US - - do you want to make another suggestion??

Actually, I think I might have been the moderator for that discussion!

message 7: by Bill (new)

Bill I think the Karl Alberg mystery series would be binge-worthy TV. I've always wanted it to be turned into a TV series. I was quite upset when I discovered that she had died. I was just reading the 2nd and final book in her follow-on series featuring RCMP Sgt Edwina Henderson.

Alberg is an RCMP Sgt who works on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada. The first book in the series is The Suspect by Laurali Wright The Suspect by L.R. Wright.

message 8: by Thomas (new)

Thomas (tom471) | 2031 comments I'm going to nominate Whiskey Sour book one in the Jack Daniels series by J.A. Konrath
There are 11 books in the series.

message 9: by D.L. (new)

D.L. I feel like the NYPD Red series by James Patterson would be very binge-worthy. It's high camp and drama and I easily could see it on the ABC Monday night lineup lol

So I will nominate book 1: NYPD Red if that's allowed. :)

message 10: by Patty (new)

Patty | 4619 comments How did I get that book? I bought it and read it. Pretty sure I didn’t get it from overseas. Every book I like has been made into a movie or a tv show in some country. Let me look again. Harrumph.

message 11: by Patty (new)

Patty | 4619 comments I found one! This series is fun Bryant and May: Peculiar Crimes Unit by Christopher Fowler

message 12: by Jupiter (new)

Jupiter | 336 comments I would LOVE to see She Rides Shotgun by Jordan Harper into a movie!!

message 13: by Gisela (new)

Gisela Hafezparast | 368 comments There are two great series of crime books, one if by Ursula Poznanski which starts with Fünf and a fantastic series based in Munich by Verletzung.

Unfortunately I don't think they either of them are translated into English. There are so many really great German crime authors, often with strong female detectives, so it is a crying shame that they are not translated much.

For an English detective, albeit with Italian background, how about Luca Veste? His crimes are based around his native Liverpool.

It doesn't get any better than this series, and the characters in the unit would be fascinating to see in a video adaptation.

Oh, people, I am SO sorry! I've been so immersed in things here that I completely spaced on the poll!

Don't worry, Susan, I'll add Elly Griffiths to the poll.

As soon as my Ipad charges we'll be up and running. My apologies, everyone.

Well, the winners have been chosen -- it's NYPD Red by James Patterson and The Crossing Places, by Elly Griffiths.

I'll be contacting Daph and Susan, but the rest of you have plenty of time to find copies. Thanks again everyone!!

Angelina | 149 comments Oh good for once I have a secondhand copy of the crossing places on my shelf to read as not spending money on books this year just using the library. I’ve read one of the later ones in the series before but not this one.
