Welcome to Dewey.Decimal.Readers! Here you can introduce yourself by sharing your name, where you’re from, and why you joined the group. But no pressure. Just if you’d like to tell us a little bit about yourself, here’s the place to do it!

Hello, my name is Talia and I am the group founder and currently the only moderator. I live in Michigan but am a recent transplant from Arizona. I’ve been married for almost two years and my husband and I recently took in his mother’s cat which has been an interesting experience for me since I am not a cat person. Luckily this cat is pretty well-behaved. I am a lifelong booklover but I mainly read fiction and how-to books, so reading more non-fiction has been long overdue.
I started this group because I read
The Chosen in high school and thought it was awesome how one of the boys read ALL the books in the local library! I have wanted to do that ever since then but I realize that that might not be possible for me. So instead I decided to explore one classification of the Dewey Decimal System each month and read books in that area so that by the end of the year I will have at least sampled a variety of different topics. (I have started a similar challenge in the Fiction section of the library as well.) I started this group to encourage myself and others in our journeys to learn more about the world around us through books. I’m looking forward to getting started!
