So I meditate in the morning and I find it relaxing. I think it is more of a modern concept, I'm not sure. it seems to get more publicity these days. I won't focus a lot on it in this group but I did want to share this site just in a post.https://insighttimer.com/
It's got over 15,000 free meditations. Check it out if you're into this kind of thing or even if you're just curious!
Good answer, Carol!Geoffrey, I wasn’t ‘trying’ for anything. And you didn’t back up your answer with a reason...
I think i must answer negative too...In my opinion art is about creating something outside yourself, something that can be shown to other people.
I do think that meditation can help create art.

I think it can help - but so can going for a long walk - & that is not an art form! :)

Or taking mind expanding drugs; as some did in the six-tees and seven-tees ;-)

I think I agree with a part of that...yes, art can be about creating something outside of yourself for other people, but a lot of artists do it for themselves, too. It is their way of personal expression. Their way of communication to others, also.
But there is also Art Therapy. That isn't necessarily for others, it is mostly for the person creating the art. A form of self-expression in a 'healing' way. I'm not sure about all the statistics behind that and I won't delve into that here. It's just an example of how some art can be for the individual artist him/her self.
In the poll Ed added a comment that Art can be a form of meditation. He turned the question around instead of meditation being a form of art, and with this I agree. And using that definition it also insinuates that art is meditation for the artist doing the work. His or her way of relaxing, or thinking or whatever meditation does for him/her, the reasoning behind doing meditation.
This reminds me of Tom Wolfe's wonderful book on modern art "The Painted Word." As I recall he goes from the viability of the blank white canvas and moves on to question whether an artist need paint anything at all. Perhaps thinking it can be enough. Of course, this is a work of satire...

No,buttheydid
I think one meditates on an art form. I think both ways, while making it or observing it. Objectivity of art can make you understand your subjective self opening many new hidden dimensions. (Heather, i am here again, kind of getting hooked :)
