Love the breakdown- bite size chunks make it so manageable! I haven’t read Pillars for many years, and it will be so great to revisit it... thanks for putting this read-along together.
Love the breakdown!! I will luv this book with me on the trip to Disney and hopefully I will be able to keep up!
Thanks so much for sharing! I plan to follow this and can’t wait to get started. This book has sat on my shelves too long so I’m ready!
Thank you for sharing. I was wondering how you tabbed it. I just divided the total pages by 31 for the number of days in July to make my tabs. It ends up being about 31 pages each day. I’m sure I’ll read more but I like having a small goal per day so I don’t feel overwhelmed. I’m really excited about this read along. Thank you for creating this group.
I am lost. Your going to read the two first parts of the book and chapter one of part three all on the first day? In my book that is over 400 pages in one day. You guys are awesome if you can read that much every day.

Sorry you're confused Theresa! What I meant when I said Chapter 1 part 3 is that a lot of the chapters are long (like 100 pages sometimes) but they're broken up into roman numerals within the chapter (at least that's how my copy is). So for example today I read from the beginning of the book to Chapter 1 part 3 (or technically roman numeral 3) which is page 42 in my book. I would LOVE to be able to read 400 pages in a day, but that is not the case lol! The way I've broken it down, I'll read anywhere from 20-70 pages a day.

That's actually a great way to do it. 31 pages a day is definitely doable!

I was hoping to be able to join this readalong, but did not have a copy of the book. Thankfully today (on July 1st) I found a great copy of The Pillars of the Earth at a thrift shop. I paid only $3.49 for it! Now to get through the 900+ pages!!Happy reading and good luck to everyone!!!!

Love the tabs that you have set, so I'll be trying to keep up with that. My first readalong, so I'm looking forward to this!
I stated reading this months ago but put it down. I was distracted by other books. LOL! I've got my copy tabbed out picking up where I left off. I really want to finish this book this month and check it off my list. :)
Meesh wrote: "This is THE BIGGEST book I have ever held or started to read!!!! I’m a bit freaked out😂"I had the same problem with big books and I found if I divided it it seemed easier. My book, I think, has 6 parts. Just think of each part as a book. Tell yourself I just have to get to the end of part one and the next thing you know you will be wanting to move on. This works for me.

Day 1- start to Chapter 1.3 (meaning chapter 1 part 3)
Day 2- Chapter1.3 to Chapter 2
Day 3- Chapter 2 to Chapter 2.3
Day 4- Chapter 2.3 to Chapter 3
Day 5- Chapter 3 to Chapter 4
Day 6- Chapter 4 to Chapter 4.2
Day 7- Chapter 4.2 to Chapter 4.3
Day 8- Chapter 4.3 to Chapter 5
Day 9- Chapter 5 to Chapter 5.3
Day 10- Chapter 5.3 to Chapter 6.2
Day 11- Chapter 6.2 to Chapter 7
Day 12- Chapter 7 to Chapter 7.3
Day 13- Chapter 7.3 to Chapter 8
Day 14- Chapter 8 to Chapter 9
Day 15- Chapter 9 to Chapter 9.3
Day 16 - Chapter 9.3 to Chapter 10.3
Day 17- Chapter 10.3 to Chapter 10.5
Day 18- Chapter 10.5 to Chapter 11
Day 19- Chapter 11 to Chapter 12
Day 20- Chapter 12 to Chapter 12.2
Day 21- Chapter 12.2 to Chapter 13
Day 22- Chapter 13 to Chapter 13.2
Day 23- Chapter 13.2 to Chapter 14
Day 24- Chapter 14 to Chapter 14.2
Day 25- Chapter 14.2 to Chapter 15
Day 26- Chapter 15 to Chapter 15.3
Day 27- Chapter 15.3 to Chapter 16.2
Day 28- Chapter 16.2 to Chapter 17
Day 29- Chapter 17 to Chapter 18
Day 30- Chapter 18 to END
So that's my plan! Feel free to use it if you'd like. I'm sorry if it's a bit confusing because the way I tabbed my copy doesn't exactly align with the way I broke up the discussion. I made the discussion breaks bigger so that they end up being about every 100-150 pages or so, so that you can stop and chat in the group. I tabbed my book so that every day I'm reading anywhere from 20-70 pages. I did this because I'm most likely not going to be able to read a whole chapter a day in some cases because some of the chapters are 100 pages long and 100 pages a day is a bit much for me lol.
Please feel free to introduce yourself here and share how you're breaking up your read (if tabbing is your thing). Again, there is NO PRESSURE to finish this read in a given amount of time. Read when you can, chat when you can :)
Let's get ready to read!!
