Beth Mast | 30 comments I am in a slump. I am having difficulties finding a book to keep my interest. I love 13th - 17th century Scotland. I like mysterious but not a big detectuve reader. I don't want a "romance". I also like ghost stories. Any suggestions? you guys have listed so many books, Im a tad overwhelmed. :) im so complicated aren't I?

C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) Ack! I've been feeling my threads are overlooked in general, I suppose because comments and conversation matter a great deal at this time. I know it's easy to miss conversation going back & forth. Do rely on selections grouped in my blog, because you & I love the same. True mystery: secret passageways, diaries, no need for a crime at all. Since that is rare outside childrens' literature (damn it, authors!) a typical theft or 'found a body' mystery will do, as long as the perspective is not detective or police-driven; or 'noir', bleak / depressing.

Even better than this, I love ghosts; fictional or not! Second to that or a general mystery; gothic mystery fulfills the atmosphere of suspense and secrets. I've only found a bit of it in a Scottish theme. What I'm saying is that with our preference in common, it's a good chance the items on my list will appeal to you; even selections well outside our go-to genres. More than happy to chat about this more and DO see my threads. ;-) Carolyn http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2013/11...
