I think it was because she was a beautiful young she-cat and had helped the others see through Crowpaw's bad behavior and had held 2 prophesies on her shoulders. she was a strong and loyal cat for all of those things.

I think Feathertail was amazing!!! She saw that Crowfeather was in trouble and so she hit the hanging rock to kill Sharptooth. It was on purpose. But she didn't mean to die. And I think she was beautiful and her and Crowpaw made a good match.
