We had a tie this month! The group voted to read the Science Fiction nominees Vox and Red Clocks in August. The winner for this genre was Vengeful. Have you read any of the other nominees for this award? Which have you read and what did you think? Which was your favorite?

Do you plan to read any of them in the future? How about setting up a buddy read of one that you are interested in this month? Use this thread to discuss and find a buddy!

Schedule buddy reads here, then set up a separate thread to discuss.

You’ve read quite a few, Deborah. Did you not like Red Clocks & Vox or were they just not your favorites. I’m considering reading The Consuming Fire. It is currently on sale through Audible. I remember that I liked The Collapsing Empire, but I don’t think I remember enough about it to read the second. I wonder if it’s worth a reread?

Vicki Willis | 1039 comments This is definitely not a genre that I gravitate to, but when I read a few for a challenge I always enjoy them.
I have only read Red Rising, but want to continue with the series.

I just finished Vox and rated it 5 stars. I will comment more on its thread.
I am reading Red Clocks now and it is a struggle, but will comment more on its thread.

I haven't started the Red Rising series yet. I keep meaning to, but never get around to it.

The other ones I'm interested in are second in series: Vengeful, Head On, & The Consuming Fire. I feel like I should reread the first books for all of them though.

Vicki - I thought Red Clocks looked interesting, but I've noticed the ratings are all over the place. I'll have to check out the comments in the thread. I've noticed the ratings for Vox are all over the place too. I'm sure part of it is that the subject matter for both books is a hot topic.

Yes, science fiction and fantasy are almost all the fiction I read. I didn't read vengeful because I didn't like the first book in the series. I gave them both 3 stars, but I didn't really like either one very much. I really liked comsuming fire, collapsing empire was slow at first, but got better. I can't help there, I never reread.

Or you might want to wait closer to April when the third one comes out so you could read all three closer together.

I probably will wait until the third one is published. I wonder how many books there will be in the series. Is the third one meant to wrap it up or are there supposed to be more?

I'm pretty sure it's just three books.

That'd be great! I'll wait until it's closer and try to do the three close together. It's the only way I'll remember the details!
