Koontz inks 5 book deal with Amazon!
Aw man! An amazon exclusive is almost guaranteed to be a Kindle exclusive. I hate e-books, and don't spend much time on amazon. Let me know how the stories work out.
Charissa wrote: "Aw man! An amazon exclusive is almost guaranteed to be a Kindle exclusive. I hate e-books, and don't spend much time on amazon. If that is the case I have to believe they gave Koontz a MASSIVE deal.
As I will not pay money for an imaginary ebook, I do hope there are print copies of this deal. I have no problem buying things from Amazon. But imaginary books? No way.
I wouldn't worry about that. I can't imagine there not being physical copies, at least of the novels. Now the short story collection, that might just an ebook, but who knows.
The novel IS going to come out as a physical copy in April. The stories are a Kindle original so, e-book only. That collection is due in Nov.
Thanks for the update K.L.
I don't read ebooks so I hadn't heard about this and I'll wait until next year for the printed copy :-)

Jerry wrote: "I guess it’s goodbye to ARC’s for us. Good while it lasted"Probably, but you never know. Either way, I'm just thrilled to know there are more books on the way, not that I ever thought that was in doubt.

Yes. That was my first thought when Dean announced he would be leaving his long-time publisher. The marketing representatives at Random House/Bantam were very generous in giving us advance copies.
BTW, if anyone does still need/want an ARC of The Night Window, send me a GR Message with a mailing address. I still have a few copies.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens - how we hear from Dean Koontz. It was my understanding that Random House was running Dean's online presence - website and social media.
I read on Kindle and listen to audio books and read real books. I own between 200 and 300 books. I like to read all types of books and I never thought I would like to read on Kindle. I also read on Google Play books.

I still love the feel of a real book, but have come to appreciate the tradeoff. And of course I have to appreciate the kindle for the mere fact that I now publish my own stuff on it, lol
That's really cool K.L. What kind of books do you write and if you ever want someone to read anything you write and give an honest review I'd be happy to. I'll start following you on there.

Speaking of Koontz and writing. I know he put out a book on writing way back in the 70s, but I wish he'd put out a new or updated version or do a masterclass like Patterson and others have done. I find it fascinating to see how people work.
Nathan wrote: "Ted Dekker does a writing class once a year every summer."Yeah, I know, even seen him give a talk or two. A number of my friends have recommended his work to me and I've picked up a number of his books, though I still haven't gotten around to reading any yet, lol.
Linda wrote: "This sounds great! I hope they do Audio versions, as well."I can't imagine they wouldn't. All the big names Amazon publishes under their various imprints have audio versions. After all Amazon does own Audible. And usually with the Amazon published books the audible add-on is usually pretty inexpensive. I know the whisper-sync add-on audio for T.R. Ragan and Robert Dugoni novels are often only 1.99. I'd flip if they did that kind of pricing for Koontz. Of course I doubt it will be that low, but I can dream right? lol
I'm super excited about the stories...a collection of shorts centered around one character is a rarity for bestselling authors so I am very curious what "Uncle Dean" does with this format.
Ugh. Dean koontz hooking up with Amazon just seems wrong! Hypocritical, I know, since I buy his books there and I think Goodreads and Amazon are the same. BUT to sign a publishing contract with them, well it feels different. Please, Please, Dean, don't sit down for a glass of wine with Bezos! That said, i am looking forward to the short stories and the 2 novels coming our way.
Mary wrote: "Does anyone know the names of these short stories and books?"The book of short stories is Nameless, featuring an amnesic vigilante that travels from town to town taking down criminals that the law couldn't.
And the first book is called Devoted. Devoted will tell the tale of Megan Bookman, an artist who is left a widow after her husband is murdered. Her son Woody, a person with autism, is set upon seeking vengeance against his father's killer. The two are also accompanied by a golden retriever named Kipp who is a part of a small collective of dogs that are self-aware and possess other gifts. The trio, along with their extended family, have to stick together as they are forced to confront a threat that could spell an end for all of humanity.
Here's the Nameless writeup from Thomas and Mercer, the amazon imprint that Koontz signed with.Koontz’s Nameless collection features six short thrillers following a mysterious amnesiac vigilante called Nameless, who travels from town to town, dispensing justice when the law fails. Directed by a shadowy, powerful organization and driven by splintered visions of the past and future, he’s headed toward the ultimate confrontation—with his own past.
Thanks K.L., now I know what I am looking for I was confused because I found some short stories or novellas on amazon that I hadn't read before. Then I saw that they seemed to connect with books that I have read...Innocence, Jane Hawk and others. I will read them but was a bit disappointed. Now I am excited once again
Woohoo, hopefully they will be released early like some of the Jane Hawke...
Anyway, thanks for answering.
Hello, friends and neighbors! Er…friends, anyway. The "Nameless" short stories are now available for purchase. Apparently, they are not being released as a collection but only as individual downloads. There are 6 of them at $1.99 each (not bad). All stories are published on Nov. 12th.
boo! I thought they'd be in a collection. Heck, the press release even called it a collection! Faux outrage, I'll still be picking them up, lol
Wow, they look cool, with the different covers etc. Still wish it was one book though. Any information on how long each segment is?
They are free with Kindle Unlimited. They will be auto delivered to Moi in Nov! I love Kindle, I don’t have to leave the light on and it’s easier to hold, plus it is on my phone and syncs... I still like a hardback or mass market sometimes but this is cheaper and easier.
So many advantages to the Kindle! I can go on vacation and carry hundreds of books in my purse! And I used to read a lotta-lotta library books, and now I don't have to worry about who sneezed or cough on these pages before I got ahold of the book. Glad to hear the stories are available free through Kindle Unlimited.

I don't have a Kindle, so I probably won't be experiencing Nameless Collection, but I've created a Discussion Thread in the Current Group Read Discussion Folder and we'll be featuring Nameless Collection as a Group Read November 12th (anticipated release date) through the end of the year for you lucky readers who have Kindle :-)

Just an FYI. Amazon has a Kindle App through android, I'm not sure about iOS. But you can download the app and read any kindle purchase with a phone or tablet!

Thanks for the info Marlise :-) I'm pretty Old School, but I might have to look into this option.

I don't know about you, but I'm sold!
