Naia waked in and to one of the many dark wooden tables. the library had an overall homey feel. with the huge bookshelves and low set lamps. there was no other lighting. she moved her fingers along the books and picked one that she liked. she sat on one of the comfortable chairs by the table. the understated elegance surprised her. the new king must have not cared enough about this room to redecorate it into his more flashy style. she liked this style much more. the new king's taste was made to show off his wealth.

(( I apologize for the wait, yesterday got busy. ^^; ))

Prince Marcus sauntered into the room, a hand musing his hair and the other rubbing at his neck. He'd just gotten back from a visit into town, and it seemed as the thought the insults toward Alexander and the royal family were even worse today. As he moved over to shelf to pick a book to take and read, trying to find something he hadn't already read, he briefly noticed the girl at the table. He hadn't seen her before. Was she a new servant? He tried his hardest to know all of the servants working here, to let them know the royal family is not all bad, but there were always new people and people he's missed. "Hello there," he spoke with a warm smile, "who might you be?"

[[it's okay]]
naia saw the boy out of the corner of her eye. " hello Prince Marcus i am Naia." she smiled, this was the prince that was called the kind. she lifted her head then gasped in rage and surprise. it was the first time she ever sputtered " but.. what.. there was a fire.. you." her eyes glowed with rage. then she calmed down. she had killed him, this was not him. her breath came in deeper.

Marcus was taken a bit by surprise when the girl he'd never met hardly glanced at him before knowing who he was, then even more so when she turned to look at him and her expression changed to one of anger. Then she calmed down and he stood there confused, book in his hands. "Um... fire? I don't understand," he sort of whispered a bit to himself. "Well, Naia, it's a pleasure to meet you. Might I ask what you're doing in here?"

Naia was calmed down now. she clenched her hands and flipped a page in her book. " it's a pleasure to meet you too. the fire is a long story, i am here to read." she said a soft teasing smile crossing her features. she hoped she hadn't scared him. she had always liked reading and the royal library was supposed to be one of the best. so she had snuck in quite easily. she picked up the book and put it on the shelf to get another one.

The eldest prince nodded slowly, then smiled warmly. "I guess that is what one comes to a library to do... I won't ask about the fire, but then I should ask another question. Do you work at the castle?" He moved over to sit in one of the chairs, placing his book on the table. "I ask because I haven't seen you before."

Naia laughed lightly." yes usually that is what one does, no i do not happen to work here. frankly i don't see why any one would with your brother though some of your sisters are nice."she wondered how he react to her not working here " what book are you reading?" she inquired flipping the page in her book. it was one of her favorites already.

Marcus' brows furrowed at the admittance of not working at the castle, obviously suggesting that the girl had simply snuck her way in. Not that Marcus was any better about sneaking out. "Yes, I know what you mean by that," he agreed quietly to the part about his family. His brother was quite literally a royal pain. "Ah, I'm reading Shakespeare, actually. Call me soft. I quite enjoy poetry and plays... although his are always quite entertaining to read. And you? What are you reading?"

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

" i love Shakespeare, most of his plays are tragedies. i am reading a full account of monsters by Florence De' Graye it has actually some very accurate portrayals." then she flipped the page to find the seers page. she was happy he hadn't asked abut her sneaking in. if he did she would tell him she wasn't into hiding.

"That's a peculiar choice. I've only ever had to read that to familiar myself with the types of monsters one might encounter..." Marcus stared at the girl with interest, leaning back in the chair. She was strange, he could tell that already, and the words she said were very... different to say the least. Accurate portrayals? Was she regularly familiar with monsters? He decided not to ask. It was better he was left in the dark, he felt.

“Peculiar is right that a mortal man could get such correct definitions of monsters is strange, very strange. If you have read it before can you tell me your favorite monster?" she said an all knowing smile on her lips she could tell he thought her different. Though she did not hide her powers often she was having fun with this talk and could see he wanted to be left in the dark. It must be glorious to have the choice to be left in the dark so she would oblige his wish. Even if he knew nothing would change because though she had seen his future a tricky twisty one. One of the most interesting she would never reveal it to him.

"My favorite?" He pondered that for a moment. The prince had never really thought about having a favorite monster, nor had he thought that it would even be important to think more about them than that one instance. "I would say, if I had to choose, I'm quite interested in the idea of warlock and witches. The thought of having people like that with such abilities, yet no one would know if they simply walked among us is extremely fascinating I suppose."

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

she smiled again and flipped another page " it really is you could never know, they can't use elemental powers of course but they can have other powers like healer or seer. some say it's to much pain and pressure." she put her head down with hands clutched as memories and visions flooded in " they have also been my favorite as well." the screams rose and red flooded her vision. then she looked up and forced a smile on her face then bit her lip. it was something she used to do when nervous " have you ever met a monster?"

Marcus absentmindedly ran his thumb across the pages of his book, bending them and letting them move back into place. "Met a monster? No, I haven't... at least, not that I know of. Like I said, there are some monsters that can hide among us with no problems," his eyes traveled up to her, and there was a lingering question in his gaze, one that was slightly suspicious, "but as far as I know, I have not encountered the monsters that humans so typically fear."
