Rebecca is a great pick!! It’s on my priority list for the year (which has gone terribly so far) so I’ll definitely be reading it for August!
I'm planning to read NOS4A2! I also have I Know Who You Are out from the library, which may count though I'm not sure if it will turn out to be a thriller, or just more of a mystery.
I'm not sure yet what I will read. I've found a bunch of good-sounding books as I was looking up books for the post, though. Hopefully I get some more ideas tomorrow when the post goes up and ppl comment some recs :D
I'm struggling with what to read this month because I have 3 weeks of work hell coming up. We're talking 16-hour work days. I've come home the last two days with my brain just absolute mush.
So if someone has a good recommendation of something short & sweet, maybe a graphic novel? I was thinking of one of the James Patterson Women's Murder Club books, but I don't know if I'm going to have the mental capacity to deal with that.
Would The Circle count? I'm halfway through that and need a prod to just finish it. But the lack of chapter breaks (aka no "just one more chapter!") has really thrown me off and I just haven't felt inspired.

I had initially earmarked All These Beautiful Strangers for this month's challenge, and I'm likely to read it, but I am waiting for the post to go up just in case another strikes my fancy.
I don't really know what to read this month, only because I'm not that into mystery or thrillers. I was thinking about doing rebecca but it's out on loan through my library. I think I'll do the 7 1/2 deaths of evelyn hardcastle because it's available on audiobook, which I'm gonna do this round because I wanna be able to do listen while I'm on the go or at the gym.
Hey everyone, I decide to join this book club! Better late than never. I’m not super active on ONTD but my username is maggielizabeth. For August, I think I’m going to read Hot Blooded. It sounds good, and the Libby app/ my libraries only have that one 🙃Happy reading everyone!

Hot Blooded was the only one from the post that I read and I thought it was fun!

I'm going to go ahead and read The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I'm not really into crime/thriller books but this one sounds interesting enough and I've seen a lot of my Goodreads friends read it.

It sounds interesting so I'll probably try to read it this month too.

Since I missed July, but finished all the other books previously, I'm reading Little Women and Werewolves and for August I'm re-reading Cruel & Unusual.
Just finished ‘Lock Every Door’ by Riley Sager and...wow. It had my hooked from the get go. Finished it in less than 12 hours due to not being able to put it down!
First time posting, but I’ve lurked in this group a little. I just (coincidentally) finished Sadie, which is the perfect book for this month’s theme
I decided to go with The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, and although I've barely started, so far it seems very refreshing to me as someone who's read every stripe of mystery to the point of being picky and hard to impress.

I downloaded Lock Every Door by Riley Sager and No Exit by Taylor Adams; gonna start with the first one. I haven't read in almost a month but I really miss it so I'm cautiously optimistic.edit: I just realized these are both male authors and I'm displeased by this revelation lol.
i decided on Missing Pieces by Heather Gudenkauf. I think it counts. I have so many books in my house waiting to be read i wanted to pick one from the pile.

I changed my mind about what I was going to read and ended up reading Lock Every Door by Riley Sager. This one was pretty good. The MC was definitely in mortal danger.
I'm not a big thriller fan and was actually going to skip over this month. I decided to try out The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and it was amazing! I was so wrapped up in it and only managed to guess one of the minor twists. I highly recommend it.
Read The Circle by Dave Eggers and holy bad decisions, Batman. The main character makes NOTHING BUT BAD DECISIONS. The ending was garbo.
Also as someone who works in social media, this was a nice little scary vision of my future career if I don't jettison out.

I also read Rebecca and adored it. (view spoiler) It's a shame Leo probably thinks Netflix is beneath him, because this is the role he was born to play. As it is, Armie is ten years too young and Lily James is ten years too old.
I read (well listened to the audiobook) the 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and I hated it. The protagonist annoyed me and made really dumb decisions which made me not root for the guy. I also found that the "twist" really wasn't that great of a twist and I could figure out what was happening like a little bit before the "surprise" (which usually I'm bad at that but I figured it out). By chapter two I was so over it and wanted it to end and felt like it went on for way too long.
this is the first I've heard of the Rebecca remake?! I've actually never seen the original movie, and want to now that I've read the book.Oh god, I ADORE Lily James, but I agree this casting is all wrong. She can play innocent really well, (I really liked her Natasha in War & Peace) but she is too mature for this. Armie is too young, (feels weird saying this about the male lead for once) and just does not have the range for this.
But really it is the casting for Rebecca that will make or break this. It is hard to make Lily James look plain next to just anyone
I read Death by Dumpling. It's been on my tbr for a while. It's typical cozy mystery fare, but I still enjoyed the characters. I'm still reading Relic which has been fun
I read The Blue Hour by Douglas Kennedy and it was utter crap. What started as an atmospheric Moroccan mystery devolved into your typical male BS thriller complete with unnecessary rape. Completely and utterly disappointing with no actual ending to attempt to redeem itself. This guy should not be writing from the POV of a woman.
