Aloof. Slightly eccentric. Possibly deranged. These are words that others may use to describe Raven. Which is all part of her personality. Courageous. Intelligent. A Fighter. A Survivor. These are the words of someone that knows her better, to her full potential.
Raven is an eccentric person. She's different from those in her district, as they tend to be much more bloodthirsty and violent-oriented. Don't get me wrong, she is. Raven can be quite violent, and most definitely cunning. She seems aloof at first, cruel and harsh. That's just her outer self showing. The hardness that seeps through her veins. A sort of extra armor to protect herself with. Some thing of her as deranged because of this, but in all honesty, she really isn't. Raven's like any other person from District One.
Raven is always willing to be the first one to go. She'll volunteer for things and will gladly take on the challenges that are ahead of her. Raven is definitely one of the smartest tributes ever from District One, as she isn't just a skilled fighter-she's skilled in her knowledge to. She knows what blows can kills somebody, and what would hurt the most. Raven knows what she can and can not eat to survive. She is a very talented and skilled fighter, not having one exact specialty. Raven is what the Capital likes to consider The Survivor.

Raven doesn't have that interesting of a past. She was the only child of her parents-their only hope to win the Games. Her parents would always pressure her to volunteer for the Games, and eventually she gave in at her second to last year. And then her crush Ali became the other tribute with her.
Raven doesn't speak much of her past, therefore few things are known. One day, when she had finished practicing for the Games at school, she was outside when some boys had caught a raven-her namesake. Curious, Raven went over to look at it. And then these older boys stated to hack and ruthlessly abuse the bird. Raven ran away crying all the way back home. She had to run down an ally to avoid letting Ali see her in her state. That was the day when she started being kinder to animals. And tried to eat less meat and be more of a vegetarian-though she never told anyone that's what she was doing.

Fleur grew up working in a mulberry orchard. Like Rue, she climbed the trees to reach the ripest mulberries when she was younger. She became an expert in climbing and could identify different plants.
Fleur's older brother was a very rebellious boy and was always trying to think of ways to escape the district. He sometimes smuggled food from the orchards as well to feed his family. One day he and Fleur managed to smuggle mulberries and oranges, but were caught when the wind blew her brother's hat off. The oranges were hidden underneath and they rolled out. The Peacekeepers seized both of them and found mulberries hidden in Fleur's pockets, under her hat and in her closed hands. They also found some mulberries in her brother's pockets, and then there were the oranges. The siblings were taken to be whipped in the square, and each recieved 35 lashes for their crimes. Fleur was scarred for life, not just by the lashes, but by the pain and how terrified she felt as well. From then on she feared the Peacekeepers and never did anything like that again.
