Hello! I'm Caroline.

I have started this group because I have recently started discussing what I am writing with my fellow writers and other readers. I have been writing a novel since October 2018, but outlining since Fall of 2017, since then I have started a blog to share my book reviews, talk about writing, and use the blog as a journal for myself to look back on. I am hoping to one day start a YouTube channel to talk about books and life, but for now, I am using my blog www.caroline-reads.weebly.com.

I am majoring in English in college and aspire to one day become a published author. I love journaling and everything creative.

I hope you have fun in this group and I'm excited to get to know everyone!

Happy writing!
Xx Caroline

♦♣ queen of faerie ♠♥ (queenoffaerie) Hi I’m queenofthorns and I’m writing two novels, (or attempting to). It’s just something for fun but I hope one day it could turn into something more ;)
One is a fantasy novel and another is kinda like an Agatha Christie type murder mystery, they’re quite different so it’s like a breather when I take time off one and write the other.
I also sometimes write poems, (when I feel like it)

Alexia | Right Writing Words (doodlepoodle0210) | 4 comments Mod
Hi! I'm Alexia and I've been *trying* to write a high-fantasy book since December 2015. I've been rewriting countless drafts since then but I'm making progress!

Mirla Raz | 1 comments Hi, I'm Mirla. I'm about to publish The Birds Sang Eulogies, A Memoir. It is the story of my parents' survival during the Holocaust written from the perspective of 3 generations: my parents, myself and my daughter. I am trying to decide when is the best month to publish it--Sept. or Oct. Hmmm

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I'm Ariadne. I'm only thirteen, so my writing skills are by no means the best or anything close to it. However, I write daily (at this point, mostly fanfics or contemporaries) and hope to one day become published.

I have a lot of future novel/series ideas, but right now my main focus is a sort of fantasy/magic series focused around four main characters. Two of them are already introduced to the magical world, and two have not been. I've taken mild inspiration from Harry Potter, Divergent, and The Hunger Games. I'm also trying to lowkey get rid of the 'chosen one' trope, which I could get into more, but for the sake of possibly boring everyone here to tears, I won't right now. xD

message 6: by Holley (new)

Holley | 2 comments Hi All,

I'm Holley. I'm a librarian by day and a writer by night. I primarily write short stories and flash fiction at the moment. I tried starting a novel, but I have commitment issues. I am currently a student in an MFA program. I'm trying to improve my craft, and I think being a part of a community of other writers will help.

I like reading (and writing) speculative fiction. Fantasy, slipstream, surrealism, and magical realism are favorites, but I also enjoy horror and sci fi.

I'm happy to have found this group.

Bella | 1 comments Hi, I’m Bella 💕 I’m currently working on two separate ideas. One is YA historical fantasy with elements of romance and the other is feminist dystopian. I’m 22 years old and Ive been working on the YA historical title since I was fourteen years old (so quite a long time 😂!!!). I’m a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to actually settling down to write but I’m trying to actually make a solid effort to finish a full draft in the next six or so months. Hope you’re all having a great day & I’m so excited to be a part of this group!

Louise (loukgx) | 1 comments Hello everyone, I’m Louise. I am fairly new to the writing community. I wrote alot when I was younger but gave up, much to my disadvantage. I am currently planning to start writing my first draft soon after I have finished some much needed research. So very excited to be a part of this group and meet and connect with other writers :)

Elizabeth Cart (mountainmama198) | 5 comments My editor has finally returned her edited version of my novel. It was a long wait this summer and we writers get ancy but now the real work begins with the final revision about family and clean loving romance that is inspiration. I guess they call it now inspiring romance. There are a lot of tears shed -- even my stiff upper lip editor said she was brought to tears. Isn't that what writer is about? To upload the emotions! Also WIP now is another short story collection that uplifts humanity. I would never dismiss another's style or need for horror or vampirism or erotica. Just is not MY personal thing. I defer to the huge elephant in the room that calls for a shake up of emotions related to kindness, compassion, forgiveness and stewardship. That is the necessary element to elevate the soul and leaving this earth knowing you did the right thing globally in your writing. Just saying. Blessings to all.

Celeste the bookish dragon (celestethebookdragon) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Emily. I have spent most of my life writing various different little stories but I am finally trying to write a full length story with the hope of getting published.

I am currently studing for a BA in English literature and language while also trying to start a fantasy/steampunk hybrid novel. So far I have not made much progress on it as I am too caught up in the world of Sherlock Holmes for my dissertation. Once my BA is completed I intend to go on to study a creative writing Masters.

Vikas (vikaskhair) | 1 comments Hello, I am Vikas from New Delhi, India. I used to write lot of short stories and been trying to write a book but all is on pause for the last few months. Hopefully, with support from you all, I would be able to refresh my writing in the new year 2020.

message 19: by Jenelle (new)

Jenelle Theis | 1 comments Hi, my name is Jenelle and I am looking for Beta readers and critique partners for my YA Fantasy novel complete at 103,037 words. Here is the blurb I have been working on:

Shayleen Cooper doesn't think she’s different or unique. Just another normal seventeen-year-old who doesn't fit in. Until the eerie night, she meets the monsters that show her just how different she really is.
She has no idea what is real anymore, including her own sanity. “Family history,” she’s sure the Docs will say, as they throw her in a padded room.
As she's launched deeper in this unknown world, Shay has no choice but to fight.
No big deal right? All that stands in her way is her imprisonment, hordes of beasts, shifters, and an unknown civilization living amongst them. All hell-bent on killing her.
She discovers her unconventional family along the way, and the boy she just can’t have. But don’t they know to stay away from her? Everyone she cares about ends up dead or forever altered…

*Some violence and gore as well as light profanity.
If interested message me, thanks.

Nadia | 2 comments It’s so great to meet so many like minded individuals! My name is Nadia and writing is my favorite hobby! I wrote my first two novels, one an urban fantasy and the other a paranormal mystery, in 2015. Then I revised...a lot. In 2017, I tried to self-publish, but got scared and self-sabotaged, instead. I began working on sequels to both novels and then realized my commitment to those stories died. I’m still waiting to see if it revives itself somehow. Until then, I’ve decided to start a new writing project and would love to have a group of people to toss ideas around with! Happy writing!

message 21: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Cart (mountainmama198) | 5 comments I had an eye opening moment that claimed my truth. I had submitted one of my novels to Austen Macauley publishers. They presented as a traditional publisher with a team that would read your entire mss not just 50 pages. Recently they expanded from UK to NYC and also Canada and Dubai. I waited almost 2 mos to get a response. The email offered me a contributory contract. Let me explain bc I certainly was out of the loop. I studied online and read as much as I could from blogs, online critics, authors etc. I knew my decision would be to decline. The posts online call it a vanity publisher but actually they deny that. They are really a hybrid publisher. Call me stupid because in decades past that term was not bantered around. It means the author co-parents the baby. The author is expected to front thousands of dollars, 1/3 of all costs ( and those costs could definitely be customized) and the publisher fronts 2/3 costs. The concept is that at the end of the day the royalties are increased for the author. Oh, but wait just a minute. Books get discounted in selling price and if knocked down to 30-40-70% guess what? The author gets a royalty on the discounted price. Then after all the marketing the author needs to accomplish, it may be years if that, before any return on the thousands is realized. I came to the understanding that it is not illegal to conduct business this way but in my way of thinking it is unethical. No different than a shell organization that presents a good idea and then hides the facts to your disadvantage. If traditional publishers are going this route, either they will continue to make a mint on your dime if you are gullible enough, or you the author will find a way to go self publishing and spend half that money or less in marketing via your domain or good reads or elsewhere. I told them the truth of what I am posting here and said it would be financially prohibitive to engage in that kind of risk. Curious, what would you kind authors do?

Nicole Wells | 3 comments In the ethos where herds of story ideas run wild and free, I am known as the Devourer of Books. A voracious predator, I --

Okay. I’m a mom of three young children. I am in the process of writing 9 books and publishing 1. And I spend way too much time in the fantasy world in my head. But, hey, in this world I’m still supernatural. I channel the powers of my insomnia for good. I’m impervious to kid whining and insults (well, mostly). I have a second sense for cereal disasters and broken toy catastrophes. They call me Mom, which is code for You’re-Awesome-We-Love-You or Stop-Writing-On-Your-Computer-and-Play-With-Me. I’m not sure which. I’ve also worn the cloak of a physician and an acupuncturist. My kryptonite is my pet peeves: water running down my elbows, food stains on papers, and losing the little plastic tethers when you remove the tags off new clothes.

So, yeah, thats me. Your average superhero mom, who just decided 2 months ago that she's also a writer.

Oh, and I’ve got three eyes (one in the back of my head).

Jennifer (peaslepuff) Hey! I'm Jennifer. I'm 32, perpetually single, and I love cats. All cats, but particularly my cat, Trouble Kitty.

I joined this group because I'm super bored at home during the ongoing quarantine and I'm desperate for social contact. Also, I've been writing more, and I would like to share with other writers.

I write a lot of short stories. Some horror, some general fiction, some fantasy.

Jamie (LadyJai) Dement (ladyjai) | 1 comments Hi everybody! My name is Jamie. you can call me Jamie, Jai, LadyJai, LJ, or Blue ;) I came here seeking motivation and connections in the writing/reading community. I've not had the opportunity to exercise my creative brain in almost 6 years and I really want to get back into it! I had suffered a great deal of hardship and pulled myself out of the darkness, got a new job and moved across country which has me so busy working as well as complete isolation from the world while at work, and losing friends and being unable to make new ones for 3 years....it's all making me spiral down again (there's so much more to it than that but it would probably bore you) I would love to connect with others to motivate me and vice versa. the only problem I foresee, though, is time is limited. I'd also really love to know if there's anything I can do to Jumpstart my creativity as well as keep at it. those negative voices inside my head are really screaming at me and right now when I try to write something, I get discouraged and quit.

David (drussell52) Hello CaroLine, other mods and members,

My pen name is my full name, David C. Russell. At the moment (past year) I have been devoting my time to posting short stories on spillwords.com. Currently one is being reviewed for possible addition.
I have been a writer for about 10 years, reader much of my adult life.
The new Facebook has me displaced as I am a blind person, and cannot readily take full advantage of the new interface. So, looking to put new roots down.
I am also an occasional participant on Critique Circle.
Hoping to make some new writer friends, and will invite others when possible.
Currently, reading "The Early Stories" by John Updike, really enjoying his collection and way with words!

Thanks for the group, and the opportunity to become acquainted.

Kindly,
David

I am Janvi from India. I just want to say that it is such a warm feeling to be connected to people through the passion of reading or writing:)
I have been a 'don't blink until you finish' reader all my life and with the boredom of quarantine, recently started my hand in writing.
I have published a few chapters on my wattpad account, but the lack of feedbacks is kinda putting my spirits low. So if anyone here has the time for some constructive criticisms or or any other insights, that would really be appreciated. :)

I am pinning down the link to my profile here.

Hey Jamie,
I am not sure if I can offer you any motivation, but here is what I did when I felt like I needed a push, I went back to that computer folder that was untouched for years and started reading my own work, and knowing that I could do it was like the biggest motivation for me to start. Of course, that is not doing that well, because once you start you need yet other pushes to keep going. But one step at a time, right? :)

Alicia (aliciavillasenor) | 2 comments Hello everyone!

It’s been years since I read a book for myself but now that my children are older I started diving into it again and updating my Goodreads account that I made years ago!

I like reading all kinds of novels but I lean toward fantasy. I also like reading non fiction and draw on lots of interesting themes from real life, scientific discoveries, and oddities. I write as well and self published several novellas- years ago that’s still available online. Working on getting one completed novel edited and another in writing.

COVID-19 lockdown definitely induced my writing!

I had time this afternoon to stop by for a brief visit and get caught up on the more recent posts.
- Wish, congratulations on your self publication of poetry accomplishment. That is a remarkable achievement when accomplished!
- Alicia, welcome to you. I am an occasional nonfiction reader so as to be a better conversationalist. I recently signed up for a daily email called, Nature, to keep informed about concerns in Science. Personally, fiction is more my niche as a reader and writer.
All the best,

alise Hi!
My name is Alice, and I’m turning 16 this year.
My hobby is writing, because I tend to get really interesting ideas and I’ve finally braced myself to put them out for the world.
I decided last year to finally try out Wattpad as a writing platform and somehow I’ve begun two stories - one with a huge plot twist at the end (Under The Stars) and the other one is just a casual romantic tag along between two characters, who are connected by their job every single day, but, as you already know, they face different obstacles that test out their suitability for each other (The Night We Met) (so far my favourite) ❤️
But I’m lacking viewers on the stories - only one or two have read them - so I’m on here, hoping someone has time and would be interested to read them <3
