"I don't know whether I'd rather cyberbitchslap someone or ROFLMAO. Can I do both simultaneously?"
Only as a Level 45 Dwarf-Ninja halfbreed.
Yeah, that last disclaimer line is worthy of a bitchslap.
"lotr is a highly popular book so rowling muster have read it"
Well da'gum, I think yer onta sum'n!

I don't care though, reading HP with my son was fun, and I'm glad we had those times. My husband read both Rowling and Tolkien and he's okay with it. Tolkien he loved, Rowling was entertainment for us and we enjoyed it.

Oh that person is full of hooey! She was likely not responsible for much of what "she wrote" past, at a stretch I would say, the 3rd book, anyway. When something starts making that kind of money, nothing is left to chance, and certainly she wouldn't be able to plagiarize to the degree that nutcase claims.

Well that will teach me to read more closely!! Now I feel like an idiot. Okay sometimes I am but I have been guilty of carelessly reading posts on GR. Then again Rowling has gotten so much criticism for those books that I come to her defense. Those books got ME reading again. After reading those I wanted to resume reading classics where I left off, about 25 years ago.

ASL is so cool, we had interpreters at our school for a few kids. I learned some signs and it was fun. Do you know any of it? I couldn't keep up with it because there just aren't enough people to converse with, and I had a really hard time interpreting signs, and they all flow together, just like all languages, the "speaker" has to speak or sign very slowly for me to get it.I went to a wedding yesterday where the priest compared the Harry Potter books to St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians- the message was love. It was a different and great way to think of the books like that. A very cool priest. And I didn't do anything embarrassing in a church, which is unusual!
I can finger spell and count, but I don't know ALS. Eric gave me a "dictionary" but I haven't looked at much. The structure of the language is so different, and we talk about that a lot when I ask "how would you translate this-or-that," he will have to go into a long explanation about how "it depends on what you 'mean' to say." Something as simple as "I am going to the store" can be just one sign for store and another for whether you are going now or later or how you're getting there or why you're going, and blah blah blah...it's very complicated, but it isn't a sign for each word because there isn't any I.am.going.to.the.store. "I am"...well duh! And you can knock out "to," and you're left with "going" which is also probably optional... So, you're going to the store...so what? Are you asking if they want to join or are you just telling them that's where you'll be? I don't want to think that much about what I am saying. Unfortunately, the experience translates into Eric thinking a lot about what I am saying and nit picking me over the stuff I don't "need" to say ;) It's amusing...for him.
Church, eh?

I only go for funerals and weddings, and I can borrow the same black dress for both! But I always think I'm going to do something wrong like laugh too loud.
It is difficult in ASL because there aren't signs for everything, and many deaf people have trouble with reading english- different language.
I used to work with several deaf people and some of the language gleeps between us were pretty funny. I did learn a good bit of AmSign, but have forgotten most of it. We did a lot of note passing. The idioms could get . . . interesting :D

J.K Rowling plagiarized Tolkien!!!
Michael (last edited Sep 02, 2013 06:14PM ) Sep 02, 2013 04:42PM
I was watching the lord of the rings the other day and saw that jk rowling copied many many things. These things being identical between the lord of the rings and harry potter,so I was thinking that jk rowling plagiarized from it.And CS Lewis author of Narnia is one of his favorite authors.
Here are some examples:
The Ring/Horcrux
The Ring having a piece of the dark lords soul/Horcruxes carry a piece of the dark lords soul
It's extremely hard to destroy a ring/It's extremely hard to destroy a horcrux(Ok let's just say the ring and horcruxes are literally the exact same thing)
Ring makes dark Lord immortal/Horcrux makes dark Lord immortal
Dark Lord/Dark Lord(I mean honestly jk had to take the same word pathetic)
The dead bodies that Frodo sees in the lake/The resurrected bodies harry sees in the half blood Prince
Galadriel future seeing bowl/Pensieve
Sam/Ron
Merry and Pippin/The Weasly brothers
Gandalf/Dumbledore(This has bothered me for years JK completely copied this character to a t)
A Dumbledore is a creature in the lord of the rings
Destroying ring, destroys dark Lord/Same with Voldemort with destroying horcruxes
The spiders
Wormtongue/Wormtail
Éowyn/Ginny
Ringwraiths,Dementors
The council of elrond/The order of the Phoenix
Frodo/Harry
Merry saying about his friends "They cannot fight this war on your own"/Scrimgour saying to harry "You cannot fight this war on your own Mr potter"
Harry being a horcrux/Frodos behavior with the ring
Gandalfs light with his staff/Lumos
Quest for the horcruxes/Quest for the ring
Jrr Tolkien lived in the UK so does rowling lotr is a highly popular book so rowling muster have read it
THREE HEADED DOG IN THE HOBBIT,THREE HEADED DOG IN HARRY POTTER
Anglo Saxon dining hall in rohan, the great hall
Gandalf battling the fire balrog in the dwarf mine,Dumbledore defeating the dead bodies in a cave/mine
I AM ABSOLUTLY DISGUSTED THAT JK ROWLIBG LITERALLY COPIED AND PAST GANDALF TO CREATE DUMBLEDORE,A DUMBLEDORE IS EVEN A CREATURE IN LOTR
Gandalf mentoring Frodo,DUMBLEDORE mentoring harry
Old man willow/The womping willow
People always talk about how Cassandra Clare plagiarized harry potter which I can't see,but people never say that jk rowling directly plagiarized the lord of the rings and made billions off it,for shame
Dear harry potter fans:
This is not a discussion it's a fact and statement so if you won't accept it or don't agree keep it to yourself
