Tawallah | 410 comments Hi guys, I was reading the rules again and think we should stick to MOLTEN for now. That’s all least 20 books. Based on this challenge we would need to complete the countdown in a week ideally so we can get at least one or two of the safe zones done.

I can do

5-book published in 1950- Night by Elie Wiesel or listen to Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage

10- book published on 10th of any month
Traitor's Bladeby Sebastian de Castell

As a backup 1- debut novel.

If anyone wants to do these I can rearrange.

Just need to check for book to spell out L A V A.

message 5: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 968 comments I can do the following for two:

7 written by an author who has published at least seven books (as listed on Goodreads)

6 that is number six in the series

I can do this one as a backup if needed:

9 with at least nine characters (need to have a speaking part, do not need to be main characters)

Looking forward to learning this challenge. I may need help along the way because I haven't done one like this before.

message 6: by Natasha (last edited Aug 12, 2019 08:13AM) (new)

Natasha | 1145 comments I could do any of the below tasks:

1. We Hunt the Flame

2. Where the Light Falls

3. Uglies

9. A Clash of Kings

If needed I could do:

8. Into the Wild

message 7: by Tawallah (new)

Tawallah | 410 comments Great, hopefully Sajel can do either 4 or 8. I can fill in 4 if needed. I looked at the spreadsheet and already have a book picked for group 2 and fourth task.

message 8: by Sajel (new)

Sajel (sajels) I think that I definitely could do #4! Would it be okay if I read the audiobook one for 4, and would it also be okay if I reread? I think both are fine, but I just want to double-check!

message 9: by Tawallah (new)

Tawallah | 410 comments Yes you can listen to the audio. For re-reads I didn’t see a specific rule but generally for challenges usually 6 months between reads.

message 10: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1145 comments And if anyone has time to do more tasks, please let us know so we aren't reading for the same task. I think when the challenge starts, we should tell each other what tasks we are currently reading for.

message 11: by Tawallah (new)

Tawallah | 410 comments Great thinking Natasha. I also think once we finish the countdown we look at spell out for LAVA and task 3 as well.

For the spreadsheet, will we all put in or does someone want to volunteer?

message 12: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1145 comments I can update the spreadsheet. Just make sure to post here.

Hi team - When you add books to the spreadsheet, could you please also link the text in the cell to the book read on Goodreads? It makes it hard to check things without a link (and we may accidentally penalise you if we look at the wrong book because we have searched incorrectly, for example).

Thanks!

Isn't this molten stunning?

Unfortunately, you are in MOLTEN and have failed to complete the countdown tasks before our countdown.

This means you have been sprayed with some hot lava and lose 10 points for each book in the countdown stage not completed.

You can chose to finish your countdown books during this round for the 10 points per book, OR you can move straight on to the SafeZone groups for the 30+ points per book...

If you have a book in progress for Countdown, but didn't finish it before the Countdown hit zero then you can use that book for the SafeZone - no penalties will accrue in that instance only, but the timing constraints of the SafeZones will apply (i.e. if you use it for SafeZone 3, make sure you finish it only after you have completed SafeZone 1 and/or 2)

bamaace83 | 968 comments Good effort team. We will totally knock out all the points this week!! Okay, I'm going to go ahead and knock out the safe zone group one book.
I'm going to read:

Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh
I found the book on Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress's Read Books
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
She is on Team Mauan Lua.

I do have to work today but I'm hoping that I can go ahead and knock it out by early afternoon. Hopefully, Sajel will post book 8 before I post this book. I hope real life didn't get in the way. I hate when I have plans to sit on my couch and read and then real life just tends to keep getting in the way.

message 36: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1145 comments From looking at the spreadsheet information, it looks like one of the letters has to be a book that was read during this challenge by another team or a previous/current BOM of the month and Visions of Heat were read by Carmen last year so I don't think that would count.

message 37: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 968 comments Ohhh I missed that part. Okay I’m off to find another book really fast. Good thing I was only 100 pages into this one.

message 39: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 968 comments Okay I'thought I found a book but does it have to be from the first part of the challenge or a book that a person has read for the challenge?

Fire Breathing Kittens member Judith read A Magical Shift by Vella Day on August 15th. I can knock that book out if it counts. It's a pretty fast read.

message 40: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1145 comments It says read for the challenge so I'm assuming any book should count, especially as we are reading at different speeds so the faster readers will going onto other stages first.

message 41: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 968 comments Thanks! Sorry for all the confusion. I'm getting ready for work and multi-tasking.

I'll read Lion Cross Point by Masatsugu Ono .

It's less than 200 page and can be knocked out pretty quickly. Just downloaded it from the library.

message 42: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1145 comments Thanks Anna! I'm going to read Acne, Asthma, and Other Signs You Might Be Half Dragon for one of the A's. It's only 213 pages for the Kindle edition.

message 43: by Tawallah (new)

Tawallah | 410 comments For the other A book- I’ll start A Study in Honor shortly. I will finish the backup book -Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters for the countdown stage as it can still be used.

For the next group 3 books I will start -The English Spy by Daniel Da Silva - sun on the cover and L A V A in author name.

message 44: by Tawallah (new)

Tawallah | 410 comments For countdown task 8

message 46: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1145 comments That bad Anna?

I'll have my A book finished tomorrow.

message 47: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 968 comments I didn’t really like it at all. It could be because I don’t normally read those type books or it could be because I was reading it in between work stuff. It just didn’t captivate my attention but I did finish it. :)

message 48: by Tawallah (new)

Tawallah | 410 comments I should finish my A book this afternoon. Is anyone reading the V book?
