Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

Team Smoke & Ashes
Hi guys, I was reading the rules again and think we should stick to MOLTEN for now. That’s all least 20 books. Based on this challenge we would need to complete the countdown in a week ideally so we can get at least one or two of the safe zones done. I can do
5-book published in 1950- Night by Elie Wiesel or listen to Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage
10- book published on 10th of any month
Traitor's Bladeby Sebastian de Castell
As a backup 1- debut novel.
If anyone wants to do these I can rearrange.
Just need to check for book to spell out L A V A.
I can do the following for two:7 written by an author who has published at least seven books (as listed on Goodreads)
6 that is number six in the series
I can do this one as a backup if needed:
9 with at least nine characters (need to have a speaking part, do not need to be main characters)
Looking forward to learning this challenge. I may need help along the way because I haven't done one like this before.
I could do any of the below tasks:1. We Hunt the Flame
2. Where the Light Falls
3. Uglies
9. A Clash of Kings
If needed I could do:
8. Into the Wild
Great, hopefully Sajel can do either 4 or 8. I can fill in 4 if needed. I looked at the spreadsheet and already have a book picked for group 2 and fourth task.
I think that I definitely could do #4! Would it be okay if I read the audiobook one for 4, and would it also be okay if I reread? I think both are fine, but I just want to double-check!
Yes you can listen to the audio. For re-reads I didn’t see a specific rule but generally for challenges usually 6 months between reads.
And if anyone has time to do more tasks, please let us know so we aren't reading for the same task. I think when the challenge starts, we should tell each other what tasks we are currently reading for.
Great thinking Natasha. I also think once we finish the countdown we look at spell out for LAVA and task 3 as well. For the spreadsheet, will we all put in or does someone want to volunteer?
I’ll read Obsidio for 4+ narrators and the 2nd book in Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness series for book with a carnivorous animal (a cat)!

Traitor's Blade by Sebastien de CastellWorks for task 10 : Published Feb 10, 2014
Can work for task 1: It is also a debut novel
Completed: August 16
Hi everyone, we have to finish the countdown in two days. Are there tasks that anyone is struggling to complete in two days? Please put it in so the faster readers can try to finish in time.
Let Me Be the One by Bella AndreCompleted: August 17, 2019
Works for 9: at least nine characters (need to have a speaking part, do not need to be main characters)
Where the Light Falls by Allison Pataki, Owen PatakiCompleted: August 16, 2019
Works for 2: has two authors
I am so sorry guys! I have 1 hour of Obsidio left to go, and I will start the Watership Down audiobook for the book with a carnivorous animal on the cover because there is a fox!
I’ll pick up a debut novel for task 1: Beka Lamb by Zee Edgell and finish it on Sunday. I also started a backup for task 8 in case we need it. It is Crocodile on the Sandbank.
I'll finish Uglies today in the next few hours for 3. So Sajel should have 4 done and is working on 8. So we just need 1.
Uglies by Scott WesterfeldCompleted: 8/18/19
Works for 3: Was meant to be a trilogy, but a fourth book was added
Hi team - When you add books to the spreadsheet, could you please also link the text in the cell to the book read on Goodreads? It makes it hard to check things without a link (and we may accidentally penalise you if we look at the wrong book because we have searched incorrectly, for example).
Thanks!
Thanks!
Isn't this molten stunning?
Unfortunately, you are in MOLTEN and have failed to complete the countdown tasks before our countdown.
This means you have been sprayed with some hot lava and lose 10 points for each book in the countdown stage not completed.
Good effort team. We will totally knock out all the points this week!! Okay, I'm going to go ahead and knock out the safe zone group one book. I'm going to read:
Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh
I found the book on Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress's Read Books
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
She is on Team Mauan Lua.
I do have to work today but I'm hoping that I can go ahead and knock it out by early afternoon. Hopefully, Sajel will post book 8 before I post this book. I hope real life didn't get in the way. I hate when I have plans to sit on my couch and read and then real life just tends to keep getting in the way.
From looking at the spreadsheet information, it looks like one of the letters has to be a book that was read during this challenge by another team or a previous/current BOM of the month and Visions of Heat were read by Carmen last year so I don't think that would count.
Ohhh I missed that part. Okay I’m off to find another book really fast. Good thing I was only 100 pages into this one.
I'm going through some of the other teams spreadsheets and here is what works for L-A-V-A:The Acrobats
The Au Pair
Lion Cross Point
The Vampire Prince
Library of Souls
Love May Fail
Audrey, Wait!
The Lost Girls of Paris
Lone Wolf
Letters in the Library
Love Is a Many Trousered Thing
All Night Long
Acceptance
Lycans and Legends: A Steampunk Fairy Tale
Lincoln in the Bardo
Okay I'thought I found a book but does it have to be from the first part of the challenge or a book that a person has read for the challenge?Fire Breathing Kittens member Judith read A Magical Shift by Vella Day on August 15th. I can knock that book out if it counts. It's a pretty fast read.
It says read for the challenge so I'm assuming any book should count, especially as we are reading at different speeds so the faster readers will going onto other stages first.
Thanks! Sorry for all the confusion. I'm getting ready for work and multi-tasking. I'll read
.It's less than 200 page and can be knocked out pretty quickly. Just downloaded it from the library.
Thanks Anna! I'm going to read Acne, Asthma, and Other Signs You Might Be Half Dragon for one of the A's. It's only 213 pages for the Kindle edition.
For the other A book- I’ll start A Study in Honor shortly. I will finish the backup book -Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters for the countdown stage as it can still be used. For the next group 3 books I will start -The English Spy by Daniel Da Silva - sun on the cover and L A V A in author name.
For countdown task 8Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters
Cover:
- crocodile on cover is a carnivorous animalDate completed: August 19
For L in the spell out LAVABook Read: Lion Cross Point by Masatsugu Ono
Date Read: August 19, 2019
Rating: 1 Star
I didn’t really like it at all. It could be because I don’t normally read those type books or it could be because I was reading it in between work stuff. It just didn’t captivate my attention but I did finish it. :)
For A in LAVAAcne, Asthma, And Other Signs You Might Be Half Dragon by Rena Rocford
