No, it was not any of those.
Any other details you can remember would help. What sort of book, when did you read it, when/who published it, more about the characters...
All I remember is that one scene I mentioned. Don't remember the author. I read it within the past 4-5 years.
Perhaps Lisey's Story by Stephen King? IIRC, Paul (the older brother of Scott, the protagonist) hasn't actually killed anyone, but his father can tell it is only a matter of time, and chains him up to a post in the cellar.

I remember parts of a book, there was one part where the parent locks the son (?) underground because he is bad(killer). Child was locked in an underground kinda bunker where he killed animals.
