Lily | 750 comments Harry Potter! I need to reread this series. I haven't read them in a while, and I want to.

Crimson_Indigo | Moonshine (backinblack) | 640 comments I just started reading Harry Poter a week ago. I'm on the third book. BTW, it's waaayyyy better than Twilight.

Crimson_Indigo | Moonshine (backinblack) | 640 comments I'm now on the fifth book! It's SOO good. It's one of the books where when something happens to someone in the book, you feel that. I got so irritated at one point with some of the characters that i threw it at the wall during class....

I agree. I love Harry Potter as well. The books are awesome and the movies are also awesome. I want to re-read the books and re-watch the movies. I should have a Harry Potter-thon and have an all-nighter just watching the movies.

Luna Lovegood stumbled upon the mirror of Erised (is that right) one day. After a minute, she walked away, finding it impossible to be obsessed with her own reflection.

LOVE IT

Crimson_Indigo | Moonshine (backinblack) | 640 comments Thanks! Oh! And if you read the inscription on the mirror backwards it says:

I show not your face but your hearts desire

Yeah I heard that somewhere...just forgot it!

HARRY POTTER SERIES SECRETS

How to add one:
Say @HPSS with your HPSS.

-Erised = Desire
spelled backwards

-The inscription on the mirror backwards it says:
I show not your face but your hearts desire

-All of the Blacks are named after stars, with the exception of Tonks' son, who hated her first name.

-The actor who plays James Potter has the same birthday as James Potter, but the actor is 2 years older than James.

-Sirius was known as the dog star before Sirius Black was named a character and a dog animagus.

-Remus Lupin is a very wolfish name.

-A possible connection is that the Elf named Hermy (in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer) wanted to be a dentist and Hermione's parents are dentists and she is for Elfish Welfare.

-Sirius Black's vault number: The seemingly random number of Sirius's vault, 711, is also the number of the page on which Sirius falls through the veil in the British version of Order of the Phoenix.

-Snape regretting Lily's death: The first thing Snape asks Harry is: "Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?"
According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning "My regrets follow you to the grave" and wormwood means "absence" and also typically symbolized bitter sorrow. If you combined that, it meant "I bitterly regret Lily's death."

-Trewlawny's Prediction: Sirius was the first to rise, and the first to die.

-Patronus Love: Ron Wealsey's Patronus is a Jack Russell Terrier, which are known for chasing otters. Coincidentally, Hermione Granger's Patronus is an otter.

-His Greatest Fear: J.K. Rowling has said that Voldemort's Boggart would take the shape of his own corpse, since death was his greatest fear.

-Voldemort means "flight of death" in French or something.

-Harry potter takes place in the 90s. James and lily were killed when they were 21, they were not middle aged as the actors who portray them are. Voldemort was born on December 31, 1926. Voldemorts thing with muggle borns can be compared to the holocaust. the first time Voldemort opened the chamber of secrets was during the actual holocaust.

-The name Albus is Latin. It translates to "white". (Dumbledore's hair/skin)

-The name Harry actually means
To persistently carry out attacks on (an enemy or an enemy's territory); persistently harass

-The name Potter actually means
To poke; to push; also, to disturb; to confuse; to bother

-Harry’s birthday is July 31, 1980. Rowling’s birthday is also July 31 – but in 1966.

-The actress who played Moaning Myrtle was 37 years old at the time “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” was filmed. She is the oldest actress to ever portray a Hogwarts student.
(view spoiler)

-Ron Weasley’s character originally swore a lot, but Rowling’s publisher wouldn’t let her use that sort of language because it would’ve been inappropriate for young readers.
(view spoiler)

-Just Kidding Rowling?
Rowling’s publisher suggested she use initials rather than her real name, “Joanne Rowling,” in order to appeal to male readers. She chose J.K., borrowing the “K” from her grandmother’s name, Kathleen. However, neither “Kathleen” nor “K” is part of her legal name.

-Only Alan Rickman, the actor who played Professor Snape, knew his character’s fate before the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” because Rowling told him.

-Delayed Predictions: All the people Trelawny predicted would die, died in the Battle of Hogwarts.

-Remus Lupin's name translates to Werewolf Mcwerewolf

Crimson_Indigo | Moonshine (backinblack) | 640 comments Um, a few corrections, if i may?

Trewlawny's Prediction: SIRIUS, not Lupin, was the first to rise, and the first to die.

Alan Rickman: He actually did NOT know what Snape's fate was. People just assumed that because JK Rowling let him answer questions on it because she didn't want to.

And,

@HPSS,

Delayed Predictions: All the people Trelawny predicted would die, died in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Crimson_Indigo | Moonshine (backinblack) | 640 comments Also, Remus Lupin's name translates to Werewolf Mcwerewolf

Crimson_Indigo | Moonshine (backinblack) | 640 comments McGonagall: 4 students out of bed in 1 night! I've never heard of such a thing!

Fandom: Uh...you sure about that? *cough*Marauders*cough*

Yes, you know this was you. It's okay, it was me too.

"STUDENTS OUT OF BED! STUDENTS OUT OF BED! STUDENTS IN THE CORRIDORS!"

"You idiot, they're supposed to be out of bed!"

"Oh."

Crimson_Indigo | Moonshine (backinblack) | 640 comments And you are lying if you say that the students don't throw parties in the Room of Requirement. And Dumbledore joins them.

Dudley: They stuff people's heads down the toilet the first day at Stonewall. Want to come upstairs and practice?
Harry: No, thanks. The poor toilet's never had anything as horrible as your head down it -- it might be sick.

1st Weasley Twin: Oh, are you a prefect, Percy? You should have said something, we had no idea.
2nd Weasley Twin: Hang on, I think I remember him saying something about it. Once --
1st Weasley Twin: Or twice --
2nd Weasley Twin: A minute --
1st Weasley Twin: All summer --
Percy: Oh, shut up!

Professor McGonagall: Well, thank you for that assessment, Mr Weasley. Perhaps it would be more useful if I were to transfigure Mr Potter and yourself into a pocket watch. That way, one of you might be on time.

Dumbledore: I was unfortunate enough in my youth to come across a vomit-flavored one, and since then I have rather lost my liking for them. But, I think I could be safe with a nice toffee. (eats it)
Dumbledore: ...Hmm, alas, earwax.
