What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

This book has been nettling me for years. I think I must have found it in 2014 or 2015 when someone gave me a copy on the street. It came with a sung soundtrack with songs based on (and made for) the book. I started reading it but then lost it in a move and subsequently have never been able to find it again. I remember almost nothing about the plot. I remember there was mining, a situation where miners would spin a wheel, and some sort of bear. There might have been crystals. I believe it was some sort of fantasy novel. Is it possible from these sparse details anyone knows what the heck book this is?

Mercedes Lackey writes fantasy novels that often feature songs, and she has had many of her songs recorded by filk singers. Maybe someone did a CD that was released specifically for one of her books... the storyline sounds just vaguely like it could be "Foundation", the first Collegium Chronicles novel, which features the mine-slave boy Mags struggling to survive and then eventually escaping the mines. They mine "sparklies" which turn out to be valuable gems.

Good suggestions! It wasn't Lackey as I believe the book was released between 2013-2015. Unfortunately, it was not on that Goodreads list :(

The Hope We Seek maybe?
