Was going to nominate When the Clyde Ran Red by Maggie Craig but I think it might be too politically charged and When I Heard the Bell: The Loss of the Iolaire might be too much of a downer. So I'll nominate The Appin Murder: The Killing of the Red Fox by Seamus Carney Murder mystery of sorts and not a part of history that hasn't been done to death.
This Golden Fleece: A Journey Through Britain's Knitted HistoryHistory of wool and knitting in the UK, fair bit set in Scotland and the author lives in Scotland too :) Apparently, Nicola Sturgeon's mom loved the book, it's being published in September, so a new release.
I was very indecisive on this theme, looking at the Glencoe massacre to the Picts, but spotted this book below at the library and on impulse decide to nominate it.
Scotland: Her Story by Rosemary Goring
We’ve got a really diverse group of nominations on some interesting subjects! I’ll let this thread run till Friday so nominate soon...

Thanks for this theme, Ellen. My nomination is:
Boswell's Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides with Samuel Johnsom, LL.D> by James BoswellThe above edition is the one at my library, but I'm sure there are more common and accessible versions in print and online.
The poll is now live - I love how diverse these subjects are, it will be tough choosing...

Elliot, I couldn’t find on the tiny poll links your exact edition, but I found one with the same blurb so I’m hoping it’s similar enough :)

Not a problem, Ellen. The edition you chose is the same book, just a different printing so it all works out great.
Our winning book nominated is The Appin Murder: The Killing of the Red Fox by Seamus Carney

We're looking for Historical Non-Fiction, so any book set in Scotland's past or about a historical famous figure. Have a think and decide if you want to explore the battle of Bannockburn, Rob Roy MacGregor or a closer look at mysterious Scottish Picts...
The group read an autobiography of Mary, Queen of Scots last year, so maybe we can choose something different this time round?
Comment your nomination below, looking forward to seeing what eras and people pop up...
Notes: Please only one nomination per person for this theme. If you can, use the 'add book/author' button to link the book and author to avoid confusion. Nominations must have a Scottish link.
