When you finished a book, did you want to throw it at the wall because you didn't like the ending?

I forgot about that. I'm kind of tempted to take it down but I guess we can say that if you haven't read Gone Girl, then don't click on the link. Thanks for letting me know.

Don't take it down -- you can always edit your original post to say that there's a spoiler in the article if you haven't read the book.

Good point. I put spoiler alert up there. I think there is another way of doing it but I'm not that tech savvy.

Just to set the record straight, I did not like the ending of this book. I really wanted to throw it against the wall.

I LOVED that ending! It may be one of the most twistiest of all mystery novels ever!
The second sentence is true. I know that a lot of people feel differently about this but that's why we're here.
Here is a post regarding thoughts on the ending of Shutter Island.

I have read two books this year, both from series, where I didn't like the ending. My response is to lower my score. In one case the main character ended a relationship that I though was good for her. This could have waited for the beginning of the next book. In the other the author killed off a supporting character that I liked that had been introduced in that book.
I agree with you on that. I would do the same thing. What were the books? I may not want to read them based on this.
I will just give the authors. I don't want to influence anyone else. The first book was by Harry Bingham. I gave it 4.5 stars. I would not want to prevent anyone from reading it. The second was approaching the midpoint of the Ackroyd and Thackeray series by Patricia Hall. I have given the books I have read so far 3 or 3.5 stars.

There is one Agatha Christie mystery where the narrator did it. That aggravated me so much I refused to read first person books for YEARS! (Maybe even decades.)
Kirsten wrote: "There is one Agatha Christie mystery where the narrator did it. That aggravated me so much I refused to read first person books for YEARS! (Maybe even decades.)"I am not a fan of first person. Usually too much information. It is worst when the first person narrator is the villain.
The ending of Gone Girl
was last year's throw against the wall pick. This year's winner is The Heist
, the plot twist at the end was ridiculous. I am beginning to think this series has jumped the shark.

Really. Which book was it?

Agree on Gone Girl. I'm surprised about Daniel Silva. Really good writer. I may have to avoid this book.

Sorry Betty, I'm going to have to ask what ARC is. I'm sure it's something that I should know but I have to ask.

One book that comes to mind as a writer for first person is Archer Mayor. Great writer. Might want to check him out.

Do you really want to know? (view spoiler)
My wife has a book that has a set of Agatha Christie stories. I think there was eight of them. I was wondering if this was one of them. It's not on there. Thanks for letting me know.

(Maybe even decades.)"Honestly, that's my favorite Christie novel. I loved the brazeness of subverting the readers' assumptions that they could implicitly trust the narrator. I thought it was a great twist and I absolutely didn't see it coming.
