What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Author: Female, probably Canadian, maybe first name is Sarah or Sara

Title: Maybe has name Sarah or Sara or Charlotte

Fiction/non: The book is written about the woman's relative, and filled in with "creative licence", so not sure which F or NF.

Storyline: A young woman leaves Britain because she became pregnant with one of her father's slaves. They travel by ship to an Island in/near Caribbean, however the man dies early after landing. She manages to get onto a ship going north to settle parts of eastern Canada (possibly with James Cook, mid 1700's). She ends up having several husbands that die, several children, I think maybe the last one was Charlotte. She had and ongoing "friendship" with a First Nation Indian. She was the first female in Canada to settle land in her name (because it was her deceased husband's property). She lives into 70's I believe.
