It would really be good is there was a site for adventure sci fi. For one reason, Humanity's long isolation is about to end, The beginning of the end happened on October 6, 1995 when Michel Mayer and Didier Queloz, two Swiss astronomers, confirmed finding the first planet outside the solar system using what they called the Doppler method. Since that time, over 5000 planets have been added to the list: two hundred of them are super Earths, 80 of them are terrestrial in size.

Two weeks ago, NASA announced that using what they call transmission spectroscopy they have detected a clear sky and water vapor on HAT-P-11b, a Neptune sized planet 120 light years away. What this discovery means are that smaller planets have clear skies for study and that water can be detected. And, now that the technology has proven itself, they can study the 80 terrestrial and 200 super Earths for water, organic life and civilizations.

The last and most important point is that NASA no longer speaks about 20 years and 50 years in the future. Instead, they say "finding signs of oceans and potentially habitable worlds is likely a ways off". Or, to put it another way, our splendid isolation is weeks and months away: not years.

Where is the site that explores the day the Splendid Isolation ends? Or the day after when everyone reads the unofficial conclusion about UF0's published in 2012 (John B Alexander's "UFO's: Myths, Conspiracies and Realities") Or, the day after that when all hell breaks loose?

Note: I'm not into Vampires, werewolves or the world ending badly. The world for all its problems is doing very well, by the way. And, we don't need super heroes to save us. We have really, honest to God heroes to do it for us.

For example, compare Elon Musk to Tony Stark of Ironman. Stark flies around in a iron suit saving the world. Elon Musk has built a fire breathing electric super car (the Tesla D), the largest rocket boosters on the planet (the Falcon Heavy), a spaceship that can land anywhere it wants (Dragon v2) and intends to establish the first permanent Martian colony in the 2020's.

Imagine at the 2017 Paris Air Exhibition, you see pilots and aircraft mechanics racing to look upon the main runway. What are they anticipating, you wonder? You dash to the window overlooking the runway and you follow the eyes of the pilots the mechanics. You see them point upward and to the west.

At first you see nothing. Then, as you squint, you see a column of fire racing downward. The fire draws quickly closer and you see what looks like a UFO balancing on the fire. Closer and closer it comes and as it does, it slows until it's hovering 100 ft over the runway. Then, it eases onto a taxi way and slowly, slowly touches down.

The crowd that had been deathly silent explodes in joy and rushes the window to wave as a door opens on the UFO and six people emerge. "John Claude returns," a man next to you shouts.

"Who's John Claude?" you ask.

"He's our astronaut," the man grins. "He's come home from the ISS. The International Space Station. Ninety years after Lindbergh, a Frenchman returns from space. It's a new day. It's space for all."

Could this happen? The Dragon V2 begins testing in 2015. If everything goes right: easily.
