" Heroes are not born, they are made, grown from ordinary stock then fertilized by crisis."

This is the 4th book in Michael J. Sullivan's Legends of The Empire. The story picks up from where Age of War left off. However, it's only a short section to set your bearings. Part 2 begins a year after and then a time jump 5 years later begins in Part 3, the bulk of the story.

Sullivan's easy flowing story-telling captured me years ago in the Riyria stories. Being taken back into the time before the Empire has been a fabulous ride. His world building and characters always pull me in. It is like visiting with old friends He is one of the few authors who can make me laugh and cry, all in the same chapter.

The five year jump in time really shocked me at first. However, after diving into the story, I understood why, The war between the Rhune and Fhreys is still going on-why write about five years of war? I was happy to see the youngsters reaching adulthood. I was thrilled to see some of my favorite characters find love and a small piece of happiness in such a war torn
world.

Sullivan is self-publishing these last 3 books and has scheduled the last two books to be released in January and May 2020! I am thrilled I only have a short time until I can sit with these old friends once again.
