My plans are to stay sane, realistic, and not worry about the word count. If I win, I win. If I don't, I don't. As long as I get some writing done, I'll be happy with that.
50k, of course!!! ;-) I have done NaNo for many years now, so the challenge is not a scary thing to me anymore. (The first year I did it was though! Very scary!)
Now the challenge I give myself is to write 50k QUALITY words, which makes it harder, but worth doing.
(I still have a NaNo Novel that is 60k, but missing some major parts that I "burnt out" on, which makes fixing it STILL impossible, these years later! It was a fun plot, though, so someday I really should...)
Anyway, I'm set to go on my 4th in the THAW: series... "Reindeer King". I'm really looking forward to making big progress on it!
I've been really upgrading my written production this year, with 2 novellas & 2 novels completed so far, so this will get me another big step up on my plan to simultaneously release the THAW; books in January.
Big , scary goal!!! :-)
But it's going to be fun once I reach it, make it or break! ;-) I'll be further ahead than I was last year, either way! :-)
I'm sort of taking a laissez-faire approach to NaNoWriMo this year. November is just going to be a big push to get my novella done & published and then start my next novel. So I won't be officially participating, but I'll definitely be writing and pushing myself to keep my daily word count high :)
Hoping to start it, Lena! But it all depends on the novella getting completed first. I'm going to try to be disciplined and get it done because I hate to leave readers waiting too long for book two.
I'm a HUGE NaNoWriMo fan. In fact, Thimblerig's Ark was completed because NaNo gave me the pressure I needed to take it to the finish line.I'm taking my 6th graders through NaNo YWP this year, which means I'll hopefully also finish my first draft of Thimblerig's Ark Book 2.
Do this group have a forum on the NaNoWriMo website?

I LOVE NanoWrimo. I've done it two years in a row, and though I had more success the first year, since I was only in 8th grade, I have reached 60,000 both times.
This year I am (hopefully) going to do a prequel of a prequel to The Comeback Kids. It will be the love story of Benjamin Connor, who is the quarterback of the New England Patriots in my book, and his wife, Jane. The beginning of the book will be mostly about Benny and how he becomes a Christian again after three years of partying and such. I look forward to it, since the Connor family has been special to me for a long time.
Did that just sound like I am best friends with Benjamin since I was a little kid?
Nate, good idea with the forum. I will have to log onto the website and see if I can set one up!

I'm going to go rebel for this first time this year and continue writing a book that I'm already working on. I hope for there to be about 25,000 words on it by the time NaNo starts (and I only need 1,000 a day to achieve that) which will bring me to at least 75,000 by the end of NaNo.I'm also rewriting a book this year, instead of doing a book that's completely new. The first draft took me about five years to write, but mostly because I kept getting distracted and wandering off to other books, which is something I can't do in NaNo. So, I'm excited!
I'm being a rebel, too, Kendra. I'm going to rewrite the short story I've been working on (maximum of 20,000 words) and then work on another short story to finish off the month. And I probably won't make it to 50,000 words, either because we have a super busy November.
Being a rebel is *so* much fun. I still have no idea what to do for Nanow. Rebelling might be in my near-future.Yes, I pants everything. Never been one to plan very far ahead.
I am doing NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. My goal is 50,000 words, wish me luck.
All the best to everyone who is taking on the NaNoWriMo challenge, braver than I! Looking forward to hearing the great things that come out of it x
Best of luck to everyone. I've thrown my hat into the Nanowrimo ring as well, so we'll see what comes of it!
For everyone participating, how's the word count going for you? Anyone planning to attend a local write-in to really up your word count? I'm at 13k right now and hoping to double my efforts this weekend. If you need a writing buddy then please add me here
I'm actually doing well. J I'm almost at 12k and since it is now the weekend (thank God) it should up considerably.
hope everyone is having fun while they write!

I'm at just over 17,000, but later this month, I'm assuming I will have at least one day I won't get very much, if anything written. The most "local" write-in for me are almost an hour away and under fluorescent lights. It isn't worth it for me to waste 2 hours driving and then get a headache from the lights. Instead, I just wake up early in the morning and write before the rest of the family gets up. :D
My word count 665 I need motivation people
Ohh totally
*sends back sarcasm*

Pretty good. I wrote about 3000 words yesterday so I'm at 20k. Still behind but my novel will be less than 50k anyway ;)
I only got to 22k. Lots of personal setbacks took up my time at the end of the month, but hoping to still finish the book in early 2015.
I got 64,000. My personal goal had been 75,000, but I went down with a really bad respiratory infection the last week, and the words just evaporated on me. Still, I wrote 64,000 in one month, which is more than I've ever accomplished before, and I'm "almost" done with the book, so ... I'm happy with myself.
Good job! There was a while it didn't look like I was gonna make it, but I got there. About 51,000. It was supposed to be a love story, but I ended up introducing Jane at about 45,000. So much for a love story. J
Well, my MC's didn't meet until around the 50,000 word point in my book (I had started with 30,000 ... went rebel ... so I've got 94,000 total), so I understand.

I'll have to do a lot of editing when I got through the book, so it should be earlier, but I should only have 30,000 words left, and I can't write a love story in that amount. At least not my kind of love story. :P

Well, I've got about 70,000 words after my pair meet (My estimate is about 120,000 words total), so they do have time to work themselves out, especially since it's kind of an arranged engagement, which kinda speeds things up.

And it's for April. :) I'm doing it right now actually, haha.
Astrid wrote: "Lol I didn't even know that! Awesome! Are you doing it with Dragon's Bane?"Yep! :) I'm actually editing rather than writing, haha, since I've got the whole story written out, I just have to polish it up and such. It's going pretty well so far, too!
Astrid wrote: "Awesome! I'm at 21,000 words at the moment. :)"Wow! That's incredible!! Great job! :D
Astrid wrote: "Thanks! Now I just have to hope it's not too terrible when I go back and reread it lol! First draft is never perfect though I guess. :)"*chuckles* My first draft sure was pretty terrible, haha. Which is why I'm editing it now, of course. :P Yep, first drafts so aren't. But that's the awesome thing about writing, you just keep rewriting and tweaking it until it's good enough. :)
Astrid wrote: "Yep. :) A quote I saw the other day said something like the beautiful thing about writing is you don't have to get it right the first time like a brain surgeon lol. Oh, and just to make sure I don'..."Haha, that's okay! Since I'm editing for Camp and not writing, I feel kind of weird putting 8k in my word count for the day, and everyone else has like 4k, but my 8k was more me reading over and editing parts of it, so I didn't actually write 8,000 words, but my word counter says I did. :P
Hey, you guys! Anybody doing Camp NaNo and wanting a cabin with writers who are actively hitting their goals? Message me, and I can get you an invite!
It's so much more fun to be in a group with other writers who are going great, it always inspires me to go above and beyond my original goals and get even more done!!! :-)
If you want, you can find me on there as well... I'm Bee Me on Camp NaNo. :-)
I'd love to hear from you!
Elizabeth

I've done it a couple times, but I'm so behind in school it wouldn't be wise. Plus, if my mom found out I was doing, she would kill me. She knows how much time I put into writing and how far I will go to not do school! Haha

For everyone who participated, how did CampNaNo go?
I didn't get anywhere near my goal, but I wrote 1000 words more than if I hadn't tried, so I think it was a success. :)
