Miranda kills the Butcher. What are the up and downsides of her doing that?

UPside: he's truly gone and no longer a threat.
DOWNside: he'll still be the subject of potential/probable nightmares.

I think for Miranda, slaying her dragon might be extremely therapeutic. She fought back and won. The downside...I imagine anytime you take someone’s life, there’s a cost, no matter if it’s in self defense.

Upside: he can't hunt another woman again; Miranda gets closure; she has finally avenged Sharon.

Downside: the monster being dead doesn't mean his memory still isn't living.

Yeah, she’s got the scars as a memory.

Yes, even though he is no longer physically there, the nightmares will take quite some time to leave her, if ever.

Upside - knowing that she stopped him will help her heal. Downside - they may never know how many girls he killed and where some them are.
